BE55 TAXIED INTO POS AT ADS WITHOUT ATC CLRNC.

Narrative

I HAVE BEEN IN AND OUT OF ADDISON MANY TIMES. 4 TIMES IN THE NEXT WEEK AFTER THIS EVENT OF WHICH 2 WERE IN THE BARRON AND 2 IN A HAWKER. I WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 33. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF PLANES AHEAD OF ME AND I ASKED GND IF I COULD TAKE ONE OF THE INTXNS NEAR THE END OF RWY 33. HE APPROVED THIS. BY THE TIME I GOT DOWN THERE; THE OTHER ACFT HAD BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF AND I TAXIED TO THE END. I CALLED TWR AND TOLD THEM I WAS READY FOR TKOF ON RWY 33. I THOUGHT I HEARD 'BARRON X; TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD FULL LENGTH.' I THOUGHT I REPEATED THIS. I WAS HOLDING AND THE CTLR CAME ON AND SAID 'BARRON X.' I REPLIED AND HE THEN TOLD ME HE CLRED ME TO TAXI UP TO AND HOLD SHORT. I APOLOGIZED AND OFFERED TO EXPEDITE OFF THE RWY; AND HE TOLD ME TO CONTINUE HOLDING IN POS. APPROX 15 SECONDS LATER; HE CLRED ME FOR TKOF. I TRIED TO CALL SATURDAY AND SUNDAY; BUT NO ANSWER FROM THE TWR PHONE. ONE OF THE TWO OF US MADE A MISTAKE. THE CTLR WAS VERY NICE AND PROFESSIONAL. THE ONE THING I DO REMEMBER 100% WAS THE QUOTE OF 'FULL LENGTH' IN THE STATEMENT FROM HIM. I CERTAINLY THOUGHT IT WAS A CLRNC TO TAXI POS AND HOLD FULL LENGTH AS THE OTHER ACFT WAS ON THE ROLL AND THERE WAS NO OTHER AIRPLANE CLOSE TO THE ARPT FOR LNDG. I WAS WEARING HEADSETS. I COULD HEAR VERY WELL AND THERE IS REALLY NO EXCUSE OTHER THAN MISCOM. I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING I READ BACK HOLD SHORT AND CONTINUED TO TAXI. IF I DID DO THIS; THIS IS A FIRST IN ALMOST 9000 HRS OF FLYING.
