B737 FLT CREW LINED UP WITH WRONG RWY AT SDF.
Narrative
IT WAS OUR FIRST LEG WITH THE NEW PROCS. I WAS NOT YET COMFORTABLE WITH THE CHANGES. I THINK MY MIND WAS OCCUPIED WITH WHEN TO DO WHAT. AT 150 MI FROM LOUISVILLE; THE CO-PLT COPIED THE ATIS. IT SAID LNDG RWY 17L&R WITH RWY 17R BEING NOISE SENSITIVE AND; I THINK; OPERATIONAL NECESSITY ONLY. SO; I FIGURED WE WOULD LAND ON RWY 17L; WHICH I HAVE ALWAYS DONE IN THE PAST. I BRIEFED THE LOC AND FREQ FOR RWY 17L. WE WERE CLRED DOWN TO 4000 FT AND VECTORED EBOUND. WE WERE THEN SLOWED TO 190 KTS AND CLRED TO 2500 FT AND TOLD TO INTERCEPT. WE BOTH BELIEVED WE HEARD CLRED TO INTERCEPT RWY 17L. (CO-PLT READ BACK RWY 17L AND WAS NOT CORRECTED.) AT ABOUT 9 MI OUT; WE WERE TOLD TO FLY A 270 DEG HDG SINCE WE WERE LINED UP FOR RWY 17L INSTEAD OF RWY 17R AND THAT WE WERE 2 MI FROM THE ACFT IN FRONT OF US. WE WERE VECTORED BACK AROUND AND LANDED ON RWY 17R. MY TCASII WAS INOP; SO I WAS UNABLE TO NOTICE THE ACFT INTERVAL. IF TCASII HAD BEEN WORKING; I WOULD HAVE SEEN THE INTERVAL AND WOULD HAVE ASKED ABOUT THE ACFT AND RWY. WE BOTH FELT WE HEARD RWY 17L; WHICH WE MAY HAVE AND THE CTLR THOUGHT HE HAD GIVEN US RWY 17R. OR WE BOTH WERE SO LOCKED INTO RWY 17L; SINCE I HAD BRIEFED IT AND EVEN SAID RWY 17R IS NOISE SENSITIVE AND WE RARELY LAND ON THE R. I DID THIS ALL AT 150 MI OUT; AS PER NEW PROCS; SO WE MAY HAVE BEEN PREDISPOSED TO EXPECTING RWY 17L.
