Narrative
MY FLT DEPARTED FPR TO GO TO OBE FOR LNDG PRACTICE. UPON ARR; I ANNOUNCED MY INTENTIONS ON UNICOM 123.00 FOR RWY 14. THIS WAS THE PREVAILING WIND; AND RWY USED AT FPR ALSO. I WAS INFORMED THERE WAS ANOTHER PLANE WITHOUT A RADIO THAT WAS DOING TOUCH AND GOES ON RWY 5. I SAW A PLANE DEPARTING TO THE E AND THOUGHT I HAD THE FIELD TO MYSELF. ON SCAN OF THE AREA; I SAW NO OTHER PLANES. I CONTINUED AND ANNOUNCED MY LOCATIONS. JUST AT THE TIME OF FLARE; I SAW THE MICRO COMING DOWN ON RWY 5. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS TO PUT THE PLANE DOWN AND STOP; SINCE GOING AROUND MAY HAVE CAUSED A CONFLICT IN THE AIR. (AT THIS POINT OF THE LNDG IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY CHALLENGING; TOO.) ONCE THE WHEELS TOUCHED; I APPLIED BRAKES. THE PLANE SKIDDED AND STARTED SLIDING DOWN THE RWY. ONCE I REGAINED DIRECTIONAL CTL; I STEERED TO MISS AN ARPT SIGN. I BENT MY FRONT NOSE FORK AND TUBE. THE PLANE WAS REPAIRED AND FLOWN THE NEXT DAY. IT SEEMS EVEN WITH THE WIND WRONG; I SHOULD HAVE USED THE RWY 5. IT WAS NOT MY DESIRE TO DO XWIND TRAINING THAT DAY. I HAD WAITED FOR THE CALMEST DAY; AND PICKED THE CHOICEST DIRECTION SINCE MY TIME IN THE AIR IS LOW.
