Narrative
AT APPROX XA00 AND JUST INSIDE OF CHOLA INTXN ON THE LOC; WE WERE INSTRUCTED BY APCH CTL TO SLOW TO OUR SLOWEST APCH SPD. 2 MI LATER; WE WERE EXPERIENCING AN INCREASE IN GND SPD AND INDICATED AIRSPD. WE WERE TOLD BY ATC THE ACFT AHEAD WAS EXPERIENCING A HEADWIND AND SUBSEQUENT REDUCTION IN AIRSPD. WE HAD ENTERED INTO THE SHEAR ZONE GUST FRONT OF THE FRONTAL ZONE. ATC INSTRUCTED US THAT THE SPACING WAS NOT GOING TO WORK AND TO CLB TO 11000 FT AND TURN L TO A HDG OF 290 DEGS FOR VECTORS TO RWY 34R. WE WERE HANDED OFF TO THE NEXT APCH CTLR; WHO INSTRUCTED US TO MAINTAIN 10000 FT AND TURN TO A HDG OF 220 DEGS AND TO EXPECT SEVERE TURB UNTIL PASSING THE FRONTAL ZONE. WE WERE EXPERIENCING CONTINUOUS MODERATE TURB. THE CTLR VECTORED US S OF BOOBY INTXN BY 3 MI AND TURNED US TO A HDG OF 020 DEGS TO INTERCEPT THE ILS RWY 34R AND CLRED US FOR THE APCH. AS WE MADE OUR L TURN TO INTERCEPT; WE REENTERED THE FRONTAL ZONE WHERE WE EXPERIENCED A STRONG SHEAR PUSHING US TO THE E. DURING THE TURN AND ENSUING DRIFT EASTWARD; THE ACFT CROSSED THE LOC FOR RWY 35L. THE TCASII SHOWED A TARGET AT OUR 3 O'CLOCK POS AND 500 FT BELOW. WE MADE VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE TARGET TFC AND RPTED THE TFC IN SIGHT TO ATC. WE MADE A 45 DEG BANKING L TURN TO CORRECT BACK TO THE RWY 34R LOC WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT.
