B737 CREW ENCOUNTERED ADVERSE WX CONDITIONS IN ZMA AIRSPACE THAT CRACKED THE FO'S FORWARD WINDSHIELD. FLT CONTINUED TO DEST.
Narrative
WE DEPARTED FROM FLL ON A SCHEDULED FLT TO CLE. THERE WERE TSTMS ALL AROUND THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA. A STANDARD DEP CLRNC WAS RECEIVED AND WE DEPARTED ON RWY 9L. DURING THE DEP; WE WERE HELD AT FL220 DUE TO A CPR ACFT AHEAD. THE WX WAS ALL AROUND; BUT ACFT WERE DIVERTING AROUND THE WX WITH NO APPARENT PROBS. WE WERE FOLLOWING THE CPR ACFT AROUND THE WX WHEN WE GOT INTO HVY RAIN; HAIL AND TURB. THIS LASTED FOR 5-10 SECONDS. AFTERWARDS; WE DISCOVERED THAT THE 1R WINDOW WAS CRACKED. WE WENT THROUGH THE QRH PROC. ALSO; WE CONTACTED COMPANY. WE DETERMINED THAT WE HAD STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND WITH AGREEMENT WITH DISPATCH; WE CONTINUED TO CLE. NO OTHER ABNORMAL INDICATIONS WERE FOUND. ALSO; WITH THE WX CLOSING IN BEHIND US; WE FELT THAT RETURNING TO FLL WAS NOT AN OPTION. THE SAME APPLIED TO MCO. WE CHKED OUR FUEL AND THE WX AHEAD AND FELT A GOOD PLAN WOULD BE TO STAY AT A LOWER ALT AND SLOWER AIRSPD AND CONTINUE TO CLE. WE HAD OTHER SUITABLE ARPTS TO USE FOR LNDG IF NEED BE. WE LANDED AT CLE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINT CTL WAS NOTIFIED; ALSO.
