AC90 PLT HAD AN ALT OVERSHOOT ON THE TEB 5 SID AT TEB.
Narrative
SINGLE PLT REPOSITION FLT DEPARTING TEB TO OSU AT XA00 LCL TIME. GIVEN RTE ORIGINALLY TEB 5 DEP; ELIOT; ETX; J80; AIR; APE; DIRECT OSU. TAXIED TO END OF RWY 19 IN ORDER TO CROSS AND DEPART OFF RWY 24. GIVEN A RERTE DUE TO TSTMS JUST PRIOR TO DEP TO TAKE A LOWER ALT WITH CONSIDERABLE RTE CHANGES VIA VICTOR AIRWAYS OVER HARRISBURG; PITTSBURGH; AND APPLETON. WHILE I AM REARRANGING THE RTE IN THE GPS FOR MY FLT; I AM ALSO TOLD TO CROSS OVER THE RWY 19 AND WAIT ON THE OTHER HOLDING AREA AND TELL TWR I'M READY. AFTER ALL CORRECTIONS ARE MADE; I CONFIRM MY DEP PROC AGAIN WITH A QUICK GLANCE AT THE SID; 'CLB RWY HDG TO 1500 FT; THEN TURN R TO HDG 280 DEGS. AFTER CROSSING THE TEB 250 DEG RADIAL CLB TO 2000 FT.' (WHICH IN FACT SHOULD HAVE READ DO NOT CLB TO 2000 FT UNTIL YOU REACH THE 3.9 OR 4.9 DME OFF TEB VOR.) I THEREFORE AFTER TKOF REACHED 1500 FT; LEVELED OFF AND TURNED TO 280 DEGS. ONCE I CROSSED THE 250 DEG RADIAL; I BEGAN TO CLB. NY DEP THEN CONTACTED ME TO ALERT ME TO MAINTAIN 1500 FT DUE TO THE TFC OVERHEAD ARRIVING AT EWR. AT THIS POINT; I REALIZE I'VE MISREAD THE SID AND WAS SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL THE DME FIX. I ATTRIBUTE THIS EVENT TO SINGLE PLT UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE TEB 5 DEP; LAST MINUTE RTE CHANGES CAUSING WORK OVERLOAD; AND MY LACKING TO TAKE TIME TO PROPERLY READ A VERY DIFFICULT YET IMPORTANT DEP PROC.
