A LEARJET 25B CAPT RPTED THAT ELECTRICAL PROBS EXPERIENCED DURING A REPOSITIONING FLT CAUSED HIM TO RETURN TO HIS DEP ARPT; TUS.
Narrative
IN THE DARK; VMC; EARLY MORNING; WE WERE REPOSITIONING OUR ACFT ON AN IFR FLT PLAN FROM TUS TO PHX FOR A PAX PICKUP. JUST AFTER THE HDOF FROM ZAB TO PHX APCH; SEVERAL CIRCUIT BREAKERS POPPED AND ALL ELECTRIC PWR TO THE ACFT WAS LOST. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER ON THE CAPT'S SIDE WAS RESET AND 1 COM RADIO WAS AVAILABLE. PHX APCH WAS ADVISED WE HAD AN ELECTRICAL PROB AND REQUESTED LNDG; WHICH WAS APPROVED. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER POPPED AGAIN AND THE INST PANEL WAS TOTALLY BLANK. AS WE APCHED PHX WE HAD TO HAVE SOME TIME TO RUN THE CHKLIST AND FIGURE OUT WHAT WE HAD AVAILABLE; SUCH AS LNDG GEAR; FLAPS; ETC. AGAIN THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS SET MOMENTARILY AND WE ADVISED PHX WE WERE RETURNING TO TUS VISUALLY AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS PULLED UNTIL WE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING OUR PROB. TUS WAS DECIDED BECAUSE WE ELECTED NOT TO FLY AROUND IN THE PHX AREA DUE TO THE HIGH TFC AREA WITHOUT ANY RADIO COMS. ON THE WAY BACK TO TUS; AFTER RUNNING OUR CHKLIST; WE WERE ABLE TO REESTABLISH THE PLT'S SIDE AVIONICS AND THE USE OF THE CAPT'S RADIO. WE MADE CONTACT WITH TUS AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
