CAPT OF GV IGNORES SERIOUS STABILIZER TRIM ANOMALY AND FLIES ACFT TO NEXT DEST WITHOUT MAINT ATTN OR LOGBOOK WRITE-UP. INTIMIDATED FO ACQUIESCES AFTER MODEST PROTESTATION.

Narrative

WE WERE FLYING A PART 91 TRIP ON A PART 135 FLT. AFTER LNDG AT EWR; WE HAD A FLAP MISCOMPARE WITH THE STABILIZER WHEN WE RETRACTED THE FLAPS. OUR SPECIFIC PROB WAS NOT LISTED IN THE MEL AND WE MADE THE DECISION TO FLY TO HTO -- AN 85 MI LEG -- WITH FLAPS AT 20 DEGS. FOR LNDG WE HAD THE FLAPS AND STABILIZER MATCHED AND NO MESSAGES. THE WX WAS PERFECT; THE FUEL LOAD WAS LIGHT AND THE AIRPLANE FLEW AS NORMAL. WE ELECTED TO MOVE THE AIRPLANE BACK TO HPN -- AN 80 MI LEG -- FOR MAINT AND TO PICK UP ANOTHER TRIP. IT WAS THE END OF A VERY LONG NIGHT AND I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AT EWR FOR MAINT. I MADE THE WRONG DECISION. I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE CANCELED AT EWR. WHEN I GOT TO HPN; OUR MAINT SUPVR HAD A CREW TO FIX THE PROB AND BEING STRESSED AND TIRED; I DIDN'T MAKE A LOGBOOK ENTRY -- ONE MORE MISTAKE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 625391: I CHALLENGED THE PIC ON THIS SIT BECAUSE THE NEXT ARPT (HTO) HAD A RWY LENGTH OF ONLY 4255 FT. I SHOULD HAVE CHALLENGED THE SIT FURTHER; BUT I AM A CONTRACT PLT WITH THIS COMPANY AND LESS THAN 100 HRS IN TYPE; SO I RELUCTANTLY WENT ALONG WITH THE PIC.
