CMA CTL TWR CLAIMS THAT I DEVIATED FROM A HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION BY ROLLING OVER A HOLD SHORT BAR. I BELIEVE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A SIMILAR CALL SIGN ON FREQ. I HAVE BEEN BASED AT VNY FOR OVER 12 YRS AND I AM TRAINED TO LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY TO THE CTLRS. VAN NUYS IS THE BUSIEST GA ARPT IN THE WORLD AND I AM VERY ACCUSTOMED TO HIGH TFC AREAS AND FAST RADIO COMS. IN THIS OCCURRENCE I THOUGHT I WAS GIVEN A TKOF CLRNC SO I PROCEEDED PAST THE HOLD SHORT BARS. AS PIC I TOOK THE ACTION TO STOP MY ACFT CLR OF THE ACTIVE RWY JUST PAST THE HOLD SHORT BARS AS I OBSERVED TFC ON CLOSE FINAL; EVEN THOUGH I WAS GIVEN A CLRNC BY ATC. I HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBS IN THE PAST AT CAMARILLO ARPT SUCH AS PLANE SPACING PROBS AND UNREADABLE CTLRS WHO OFTEN GET CALL SIGNS MIXED UP. I WILL USE THIS AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE TO PAY GREATER ATTN IN SITS SUCH AS THIS. THIS IS WHAT I RECALL ON THE RADIO 'AFTER COMPLETING MY PRE-TKOF CHK AND RUN-UP.'
