Narrative
THERE WAS A BIG EVENT AT PONTIAC; MI (PTK). FROM THE TIME I CALLED IN TO APCH CTL; THE CTLRS WERE OVERWHELMED WITH NUMBERS OF ACFT PERFORMANCE VARIATIONS (C172'S; B26; A10; ETC); LOW APCHS; MOVEMENTS ON THE GND; AND ACFT (INCLUDING ME) XING 2 ACTIVE; BUSY RWYS (PARALLEL RWYS 28/10). AFTER LNDG RWY 28R; I WAS CLRED BY GND TO CROSS RWY 28R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 28L. A FEW MINS LATER I WAS TOLD TO CROSS RWY 28L. AFTER COMPLETELY XING THE HOLD LINE THE CTLR QUICKLY SAID; 'ACFT X STOP!' THERE WAS A CESSNA ON FINAL BUT IT LOOKED OK TO ME. ANYWAY; I STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AT THE CTLR'S COMMAND. AFTER THE CESSNA LANDED AND SLOWED I WAS CLRED ACROSS RWY 28L. WHEN I WAS TAXIING BACK FOR DEP ABOUT 1/2 HR LATER I WAS TOLD TO HOLD ABEAM A HELI; WHICH I DID. THE CTLR THEN CLRED ME TO THE END OF RWY 28L. AT THIS TIME A CESSNA 172 WAS TAXIING ACROSS THE PARALLEL TXWY WHICH I WAS ON. SINCE I SAW HIM COMING I DIDN'T MOVE UNTIL THE CESSNA WAS CLR. THE CTLR THEN ADDED; 'GIVE WAY TO THE XING CESSNA'; WHICH I HAD ALREADY DONE BY STANDING STILL. WE WERE NO CLOSER THAN 50 FT BUT I'M GLAD I DIDN'T START MOVING WHEN CLRED TO DO SO. I DON'T ENVY CTLRS IN THESE UNUSUALLY BUSY SITS. NOBODY WAS CLOSE TO BEING HURT; BUT IT WAS BY DEFINITION: 1) A RWY INCURSION; 2) A LATE 'GIVE WAY TO' COMMAND.
