DHC8 L WINGTIP IMPACTS JETWAY WHEN MARSHALLER IS DISTR AND CAPT MISJUDGES CLRNC DUE TO THE JETWAY ANGLE.
Narrative
ON AUG/THU/04; AT APPROX XA45; WE LANDED AT ZZZ ON A SCHEDULED FLT FROM OTH. THE PARKING SPOT WAS X; DIFFERENT FROM OUR USUAL SPOT DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AT THE ARPT. THE CAPT STARTED TAXIING INTO THE SPOT WHEN THE AREA WAS CLR; AND THE COMPANY RAMPER STARTED TO MARSHAL US INTO THE SPOT. I TOLD THE CAPT THAT A CONE WAS CLOSE TO THE PROP PATH ON MY SIDE; AND THEN TOLD HER WHEN IT WAS CLR. I HAD MY THUMB UP ON THE DASH AND WAS MONITORING THE R WING; AS PER OUR FOM. THE ACFT WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY. THE CAPT WAS STOPPING AS WE WERE JUST ABOUT AT THE PARKING STOP POINT (WE STOPPED WITHIN 24 INCHES OF THE STOP LINE). THE ACFT PULLED TO THE L. I THOUGHT THE STEERING HAD FAILED; OR WE RAN OVER SOME CHOCKS. WE ACTUALLY IMPACTED A JETWAY WITH THE L WING. THE LAST 18 INCHES OF THE L WING IMPACTED THE JETWAY. PAX DISEMBARKED WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. THE ANGLE OF THE JETWAY MADE IT DIFFICULT TO TELL THAT IT WAS NOT GOING TO BE CLR OF THE TAXI PATH OF THE ACFT. THE MARSHALLER WAS DISTR BY RAMPERS MOVING VEHICLES OUT OF THE WAY. THE PARKING AREA WAS NOT THE USUAL PARKING AREA FOR THE DHC8. THE CAPT PLACED TOO MUCH TRUST IN THE JUDGEMENT OF THE MARSHALLER.
