R22 PLT FAILS TO MAINTAIN CTL OF ACFT ON GND AFTER DISCHARGING A PAX. ACFT SPINS AROUND STRIKING PAX AND INFLICTING MINOR INJURY.

Narrative

I LANDED THE HELI ON THE TXWY. I SAT ON THE TXWY WAITING FOR MY PAX TO GET HIS THINGS. HE GOT OUT OF THE HELI AND WALKED FORWARD AND AWAY FROM THE HELI. I HAD THE CYCLIC BTWN MY LEGS; HAND ON THE COLLECTIVE AND I WAS WAITING FOR HIM TO GET A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY. I LOOKED DOWN FOR A SECOND AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY HELI SOMEHOW GOT LIGHT AND STARTED SPINNING L. THE VERT STABILIZER KNOCKED OVER THE PAX ON THE FIRST SPIN AND I THINK I SPUN 2-3 MORE TIMES. I DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT HAD HAPPENED UNTIL I DID A COMPLETE SPIN AND I CUT THE THROTTLE AND SHUT THE ACFT DOWN. LUCKILY MY PAX ONLY SCRAPED HIS KNEES.THE FACT THAT THE HELI GOT LIGHT ON THE SKIDS MIGHT HAVE BEEN DUE TO ME NOT PUTTING THE COLLECTIVE ALL THE WAY DOWN. SO MAYBE WHEN MY PAX GOT OUT OF THE ACFT; THE COLLECTIVE MIGHT HAVE BEEN UP JUST ENOUGH TO GET THE HELI LIGHT ON THE SKIDS. I BELIEVE ONCE I PUT THE ACFT ON THE GND I GOT LAZY. I SHOULD HAVE MADE SURE THE COLLECTIVE WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN; PUT THE FRICTION ON AND PUT THE RPM'S TO A LOWER SETTING. THE BOTTOM LINE WAS AFTER I SAT THE HELI DOWN I BELIEVE I LET MY MIND REST BECAUSE I MADE IT TO THE GND AND I HAD NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. HOW WRONG I WAS.
