C501 PLT CONTENDS THAT PERSONAL VEHICLE OPERATION AND PARKING WITHIN THE ACFT MOVEMENT AREA NEAR HANGARS AT C65 PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD.
Narrative
WE OPERATE OUT OF C65 BASED IN A RENTED HANGAR FACILITY LOCATED IN A TRIANGLE OF HANGARS SHARING A COMMON ACFT MOVEMENT AREA. THIS AREA IS ONLY ABOUT 90 FT WIDE CAUSING VERY PRECISE MANEUVERING OF OUR 46 FT WINGSPAN ACFT TO EXIT OUR HANGAR OR ENTER. FOR SOME REASON PEOPLE ARE PARKING AND OPERATING PERSONAL AUTOMOBILES IN THIS AREA CONSISTENTLY. THESE VEHICLES DRIVE IN; DOWN AN ACTIVE TXWY AND ENTER THE OP AREA UNCONTROLLED AND; MORE IMPORTANTLY; UNANNOUNCED FROM A BLIND SIDE TO ACFT IN THE DEP AREA. I RETURNED FROM A SHORT TRIP ON THIS DAY TO FIND SIX CARS AND ONE TRUCK PARKED IN THE OP AREA COMPLETELY BLOCKING THE HANGAR ENTRANCE. THESE VEHICLES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DAILY OP OF THIS ARPT. THIS IS IN DIRECT OPPOSITION TO AC NO 150/5210-20 AND CREATING A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROB. THIS CAN BE CORRECTED VERY SIMPLY BY PAINTING A 'NO PARKING OF VEHICLES IN THIS AREA' MARKING ON THE PAVED RAMP AREA. VEHICLES HAVE PLENTY OF DESIGNATED PARKING IN THE N AND W SIDE OF CITY BUILDINGS AND HANGARS. ACCESS TO HANGARS CAN BE ACHIEVED BY NOT DRIVING IN THE OP SIDE OF THE ARPT OP RAMP AND PARKING IN THE GRASS NEXT TO THE PERSONAL HANGARS.
