AN A-300 FE REDUCED TKOF PWR BECAUSE OF AN IMPENDING OVERTEMP WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE CAPT OR RECORDING THE EVENT.

Narrative

DURING TKOF ROLL; FE NOTICED EGT OVERTEMP LIGHT ON WITH EGT RISING NEAR TEMP LIMIT. FE REDUCED PWR TO NORMAL TEMP RANGE; BEFORE CAPT NOTICED ANY PROB. TKOF WAS CONTINUED AS NORMAL. LATER; FE SAID HE HAD REDUCED PWR TO MAINTAIN LIMITS. FE NEVER DISCUSSED EXCEEDING TEMP LIMITS WITH CAPT. CAPT DECIDED NO FURTHER ACTION WAS NECESSARY BECAUSE LIMITS WERE NOT EXCEEDED. REMAINDER OF FLT THE ACFT OPERATED NORMALLY. FLT CREW WAS INTENTLY MONITORING THE SEVERE WX ENRTE; DUE TO HURRICANE IN THE FLT PATH. FE NOTED ON ENG MONITORING FORM THAT OVERTEMP HAD OCCURRED; BUT DID NOT LIST ANY TEMPS; CAPT WAS COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THIS RPT. THE FOLLOWING 3 TKOFS WERE NORMAL. THERE WAS NO RPT OF EGT OVERTEMP AND NO NOTATION IN THE LOGBOOK. ENG OVERTEMP WAS NOTED SUBSEQUENTLY AND COMPANY AUDITED ALL PAPERWORK. DURING AUDIT; THE ENG MONITOR CARD WITH THE NOTATION OF OVERTEMP WAS FOUND. COMPANY DISCLOSED LOGBOOK DISCREPANCY TO FAA. ON OCT/FRI/04; CAPT WAS NOTIFIED BY UNION PRESIDENT THAT THERE WAS A PROB AND POSSIBLE DISCLOSURE TO FAA. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 633021: TO PREVENT THIS SIT IN THE FUTURE; THERE SHOULD BE MORE COM BTWN CREW MEMBERS.
