Synopsis

A B767-200 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A RAM AIR TURBINE TACHOMETER MODULE REPLACED WITH NO REQUIRED INSPECTION PERFORMED.

Narrative

ACFT #1 CAME TO ZZZ GATE WITH IDG (INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR) PROB. I WAS GOING TO REQUIRE IDG CHANGE. ACFT #2 WAS AT THE HANGAR HAVING MAINT PERFORMED. LATER THAT DAY I WAS INSTRUCTED TO GO PICK-UP ACFT #2 BECAUSE OF THE SWAP IN PLANES. AT THE HANGAR MECH WERE CLOSING UP THE ENGS AND OTHER PANELS DUE TO THE CHKS THEY WERE PERFORMING. WE GOT THE LEAD AND CLOSE-UPS WERE BEING DONE. THE RAT (RAM AIR TURBINE) WAS ALREADY EXTENDED DUE TO PART OF THE CHK WHEN WE ARRIVED. MECHS HAD TROUBLE STOWING THE RAT. AFTER SOME TROUBLESHOOTING BY THE HANGAR MECHS IT WAS DETERMINED THE COCKPIT MODULE WAS THE PROB. FOREMAN OR LEAD SUGGESTED TO SWAP OUT THE MODULE FROM THE PLANE WITH THE IDG CHANGE THAT WAS TO BE SWAPPED OUT ACFT #1. THE COMPONENT WAS CHANGED BY ANOTHER MECH. I TIGHTENED THE 4 SCREWS TO THE UNIT IN THE COCKPIT. OPS CHK WAS DONE BY THE OTHER MECH WHILE THE RAT WAS BEING STOWED. OPS WAS OK. THE PLANE WAS MOVED TO THE GATE. LOGBOOK FOLLOWED. THE WRITE-UP IN THE L WAS RAT WOULD NOT STOW. MY SIGNOFF WAS R&R MODULE OPS CHK GOOD. ACFT LEFT 1 1/2 HRS LATER. RII WAS NOT DONE AT THIS TIME. CAUGHT THE NEXT DAY AND INSPECTED.
