EMER DECLARED WHEN A B737-300 FLT DIVERTS WITH A #1 ENG PROB AFTER EXPERIENCING A BIRD STRIKE ON DEP.

Narrative

NORMAL TKOF ON RWY 1 ZZZ; FO FLYING; WHILE IN L TURN AT 400 FT EXPERIENCED BIRD STRIKE ON L SIDE OF ACFT. HEARD BANG; ENG PARAMETERS APPEARED NORMAL; FLT ATTENDANT RPTED BURNING FLESH SMELL IN CABIN. THOUGHT BIRD MIGHT HAVE IMPACTED L PACK SO TURNED IT OFF AND ODOR DISSIPATED. NOTED UNUSUAL ROARING NOISE; PULLED PWR BACK ON L ENG AND INCREASED BACK TO EVALUATE ENG. PARAMETERS STILL NORMAL AND ROARING NOISE DECREASED WITH PWR REDUCTION. DECLARED EMER AND DIVERTED TO ZZZ1. FO CONTINUED FLYING WHILE CAPT ASKED FLT ATTENDANTS IF THEY NOTICED ANY DAMAGE TO ACFT AND THEY NOTED NONE. ISSUED A CABIN ADVISORY AND NOTIFIED THEM WE WERE DIVERTING TO ZZZ1. CAPT COMMUNICATED WITH PAX AND ADVISED THEM WE WERE MAKING CAUTIONARY LNDG AT ZZZ1 BECAUSE OF SUSPECTED BIRD STRIKE. SET UP FOR VISUAL APCH RWY 1R AT ZZZ1 AND ELECTED TO LAND WITH REDUCED PWR ON #1 ENG AND FLAPS 15 DEGS. EMER EQUIP STANDING BY. AT 1000 FT ON GS; NOTICED #1 ENG VIBRATION INCREASING TO 3.5. CONTINUED AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY; EXITED RWY AND SHUT DOWN #1 ENG. FIRE PERSONNEL INSPECTED ENG AND GAVE ALL CLR. TAXIED TO GATE. AT GATE FOUND DAMAGE TO COWL AND ENG BLADES UPON INSPECTION.
