AN A319 ON TAXI OUT HAD R PACK OVERHEAT MESSAGE. RESET PACK. IN CRUISE AT FL310 HAD R PACK HIGH TEMP. DISABLED R TRIM AIR VALVE AND RESET CIRCUIT BREAKER AND REGAINED PACK.

Narrative

DURING TAXI OUT PACK OVERHEAT MESSAGE. FO RAN ECAM AND RESET PACK; CONTACTED MAINT INTO WRITE UP AND NEW MRD (MAINT RELEASE DOCUMENT) WERE GENERATED. ENRTE R PACK 'PRSOV HIGH AND COMP DISCHARGE TEMP 255 DEGS.' PACK OUTLET TEMP -10 DEGS. L PACK PRSOV MID AND PACK OUTLET TEMP 45 DEGS. NOTIFIED MAINT WHO ADVISED WE TURN OFF HOT TRIM AIR; R PACK STARTED TO COOL JUST THEN A R PACK OVERHEAT ECAM; FOLLOWED PROC AND NOTIFIED MAINT. CONTACTED MAINT BY VOICE WHO SUGGESTED I COULD USE MY EMER AUTH FOR RESET. I USED BECAUSE I WANTED 2 PACKS FOR OPS OVER HIGH TERRAIN. WHEN I WENT TO RESET BREAKER L PACK INDICATOR MOMENTARILY WENT TO YELLOW CROSS IMMEDIATELY RESET BREAKER AND ALL WAS NORMAL; NO INDICATION OF ACTUAL PACK; SHUTDOWN PRESSURE REMAINED NORMAL. SENT ACARS TO MAINT. ASKED FOR ACARS MESSAGE TO CONFIRM CIRCUIT BREAKER GRID LOCATIONS. RESET BREAKERS AND AFTER RESET HAD 'R BLEED FLT LIGHT.' I ADVISED MAINT WHO SUGGESTED WE RESET BLEED FLT AND TURN ON PACK AFTER THAT THE PACK SEEMED TO STABILIZE BUT DID REMAIN IN HIGH AND RAN AT APPROX 210-230 DEGS 'COMP DISCHARGE TEMP.' REMAINED GREENBAND. DEFERRED HOT TRIM AIR VALVE PER MAINT AND AFTER BLOCK IN RESET CIRCUIT BREAKERS FOR BOTH PACKS AND TESTED PER MAINT. IN THE FUTURE IT MAY BE HELPFUL TO RECEIVE BOTH GRID AND CIRCUIT BREAKER NAME IN AN ACARS NOTE FOR RESETS.
