AN AIRBUS ON TAXI FOR TKOF #2 FLAMED OUT. MAINT ADVISED RESTART. ENG START AND OP OK. FLT LEFT WITH OPEN LOG ITEM ON ENG.
Narrative
DURING TAXI OUT; #2 ENG FAILED. WE FOLLOWED THE ENG SHUTDOWN PROCS; STARTED THE APU; AND CONTACTED MAINT. THE COPLT AND I WENT THROUGH OUR EMER BOOK AND THE MEL TO FIND ANYTHING THAT MIGHT PERTAIN TO OUR SIT. WITH #1 ENG AND THE APU RUNNING NORMALLY; WE RULED OUT FUEL CONTAMINATION. AFTER SEVERAL MINS; MAINT CALLED BACK AND SUGGESTED WE TRY RESTARTING THE ENG. WE DID SO; AND IT STARTED NORMALLY. WE RAN THE ENG UP TO ABOUT 60% A COUPLE OF TIMES AND QUICKLY BACK TO IDLE WITH EVERYTHING SHOWING NORMAL. MAINT THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD TO GO. WE SAID WE WOULD MAKE AN AML ENTRY; RUN UP THE ENG A FEW MORE TIMES ON TAXI OUT AND DO A 20 SECOND RUN-UP ON THE RWY BEFORE TKOF ROLL. EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL IN ALL THOSE PHASES; SO WE TOOK OFF FOR OUR DEST. WHEN WE ARRIVED; WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ENG NEEDED AN INSPECTION. I FEEL A BETTER CHOICE ON OUR (CREW'S) PART WAS TO TAKE IT BACK TO MAINT AND HAVE THEM WORK ON IT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 635585: ZZZ1 MAINT THEN GNDED THE ACFT UNTIL THEY COULD CHK #2 ENG AND CHANGE 'SOMETHING' AS THE MAINT REPRESENTATIVE SAID THEY MUST DO THIS WHEN THEY HAVE AN UNEXPLAINED FLAMEOUT. WE WANTED TO KNOW WHY ZZZ MAINT DIDN'T TELL US OF THIS PROC. WE CERTAINLY WOULD NOT HAVE FLOWN IF THEY TOLD US.
