Narrative

SINGLE PLT KING AIR CAPT. FIRST TIME TO SLC. MORNING DEP (XA00); IFR TO LIT. WINDSHIELD HAD MOISTURE/CONDENSATION. I COPIED CLRNC AND REQUESTED TAXI FROM FBO FOR DEP. GND SAID; 'TAXI TO RWY 17.' I USED WIPERS TO CLR WINDSHIELD; BUT IT ONLY CLRED A PORTION OF WINDSHIELD. THE PARALLEL TXWY I SHOULD HAVE USED WAS OBSTRUCTED FROM MY VISION BY B737 PARKED LONG-WAYS TO MY L FRONT. I SAW AN ENTRANCE TO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE TXWY TO MY FAR L. (I KNEW THE TXWY WAS A PARALLEL AND TO MY L FROM THE ARPT DIAGRAM.) AS I WENT ONTO THE ENTRANCE; I TURNED R ONTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE PARALLEL. AFTER TURNING R; I SAW TOUCHDOWN MARKINGS IN FRONT AND REALIZED I WAS ON THE ACTIVE. I CALLED GND AND SAID; 'AM I ON THE ACTIVE?' GND REPLIED; 'YES; EXIT NEXT R TURN.' I COMPLIED. I BELIEVE MOISTURE ON WINDSHIELD PREVENTED ME FROM SEEING HOLD SHORT LINES; AND B737 OBSTRUCTED MY VIEW OF CORRECT TXWY. TO PREVENT RECURRENCE; PLTS SHOULD COMPLETELY WIPE AWAY ALL MOISTURE OR OBSTRUCTIONS TO VISION ON WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO TAXI. ALTHOUGH I REVIEWED ARPT DIAGRAM; GREATER FAMILIARITY WITH ARPT AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS.
