STUDENT PLT TAXIING HIS C172 HITS A POLE AND SUFFERS A PROP STRIKE ON THE FUELING STATION AFTER A SOLO XCOUNTRY FLT INTO PRB.

Narrative

A C172 STRUCK A POLE WITH THE L WING AND A METAL PLATE OF A GAS STATION WITH THE PROP WHILE TAXIING TO THE FUELING PITS AFTER LNDG ON RWY 19 AT PRB ROBLES ARPT. THE AIRPLANE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. I; THE STUDENT PLT; WAS NOT INJURED. VMC PREVAILED FOR THE XCOUNTRY FLT; AND A VFR FLT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. THE FLT DEPARTED RHV ARPT. THE FLT WAS SOLO XCOUNTRY TRAINING FOR PVT PLT CERTIFICATE AND WAS SCHEDULED TO TERMINATE AT PRB ARPT. AFTER LNDG; MY INTEREST WAS TO TAXI TO THE FUELING PIT TO REFUEL THE AIRPLANE PRIOR TO PARKING THE AIRPLANE AT THE TRANSIENT PARKING. WHEN I TAXIED TO THE FUELING PIT; THERE WERE 2 GAS PUMPS; 1 FOR 100LL; AND THE OTHER FOR JET A. AT THIS POINT; MY INTEREST WAS TO IDENT WHICH ONE WAS FOR 100LL. AS I CONTINUED TO TAXI; I ACCIDENTALLY PASSED THROUGH THE GAS STATION FOR 100LL. I TAXIED DOWN TO THE OTHER SIDE BY MAKING A L TURN AND MANEUVER AROUND THE GAS STATIONS. AT THIS TIME I MISJUDGED THE DISTANCE BTWN THE AIRPLANE AND THE GAS STATIONS. I MADE A SLIGHT TIGHT TURN. IT APPEARED THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS TAXIING TOWARD THE GAS STATION. I TRIED TO STOP MY AIRPLANE; BUT I FAILED TO STOP IN TIME AND STRUCK THE FUEL PIT. THE L WING HIT THE POLE; AND THE PROP HIT THE METAL PLATE COVERING THE HOSE. THE ENG STOPPED. AFTER THAT; I FOLLOWED THE CHKLIST AND DID THE SHUT DOWN PROC. I WALKED OUT FROM THE AIRPLANE. I CHKED THE AIRPLANE AND THE FUELING PIT. THERE WAS NO LEAK OF FUEL FROM THE FUELING PIT. THE L WING AND THE PRB HAD BEEN DAMAGED. THERE WAS AN FAA INSPECTOR AT PASO AT THE TIME WHEN THIS OCCURRED. HE INVESTIGATED THE SIT. HE ASKED ME TO SUBMIT MY PLT CERTIFICATE AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATE. AT THIS POINT; I NOTICED THAT I DID NOT HAVE THOSE DOCUMENTS WITH ME.
