AN MLG IN CRUISE AT FL290 DISCONNECTED THE R GENERATOR DUE TO HIGH OIL TEMP. UNABLE TO START APU DUE TO CRUISE ALT REQUIRED IN ORDER TO REACH DESTINATION WITH FUEL LOAD.

Narrative

AT CRUISE; THE R GENERATOR WAS DISCONNECTED DUE TO HIGH CSD TEMP; AS PER THE QRH. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO START THE APU HAD ALL FAILED DUE TO ALT/TEMP. LAST ATTEMPT TO START APU; PRIOR TO TOP OF DSCNT; WAS AT FL290. COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED APCHING ZZZ1. REQUEST WAS MADE TO RELAY OUR SIT TO ZZZ CTR SO THAT WE COULD PROCEED DIRECT FROM POINT OF CONTACT TO ZZZ CTR (NO VECTORING). CTR WAS NOTIFIED APPROX 15 MINS LATER. THEY HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY COMPANY. ZZZ CTR DECLARED US AS AN EMER AND GRANTED CLRNC DIRECT TO ZZZ AREA; FL290. DSNDING THROUGH FL200; THE APU WAS STARTED AND THE SECOND GENERATOR WAS CONNECTED TO THE BUSS. DSNDING TO AN ALT WHERE THE APU COULD HAVE BEEN STARTED AND THEN CONTINUING ON TO ZZZ WAS NOT A POSSIBILITY DUE TO THE FUEL LOAD THAT WAS DISPATCHED OUT OF ZZZ2. ORIGINAL FUEL LOAD WAS 19.3/7.1 OVER ZZZ WITH 5.9 OVER ALTERNATE OF NEARBY ARPT. CAPT'S ADD FUEL WAS 1000 LBS MINIMUM FUEL LOAD SEVERELY LIMITED THE OPTIONS OF THE CREW AND COULD HAVE HAD SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES HAD THE L GENERATOR EXPERIENCED ANY DIFFICULTY.
