TFC CONFLICT ENSUES IN THE UNCTLED TFC PATTERN AT MKY WHEN A FASTER C310 ENTERING THE PATTERN OVERRUNS A C152 CONDUCTING TOUCH-AND-GOES. SHOWERS IN THE AREA COMPLICATE THE RESOLUTION.
Narrative
RETURNING TO MKY PART 135 VFR; CALLED POS 15 MI SW OF MKY AT 1500 FT INBOUND LNDG RWY 17 AT MKY. ONE OTHER ACFT WAS IN THE PATTERN DOING TOUCH-AND-GOES (A C152). WE BOTH ACKNOWLEDGED EACH OTHER AT THIS TIME. SHE (THE C152) WAS ON FINAL FOR RWY 17 TOUCH-AND-GO L TFC. I WAS 10 MI S OF MKY AT 1500 FT. I CALLED THAT I WAS A C310 AND WOULD ENTER A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 17; FULL STOP. THE C152 CALLED UPWIND AND I WAS 5 MI SE DSNDING TO 1200 FT ON A L DOWNWIND. I CALLED MY POS AND REMINDED HER I WAS A C310. AT THIS TIME SHE CALLED A L XWIND AND THEN L DOWNWIND AS IF SHE WANTED TO GET IN FRONT OF ME OR BEAT ME ON THE DOWNWIND. THERE WERE ALSO A FEW SHOWERS IN THE AREA BUT MKY WAS VFR. THERE WAS ALSO A BARON TAKING THE ACTIVE RWY 17 FOR AN E DEP. I LOOKED UP AND THERE WAS THE C152. SHE DID NOT KNOW WHERE I WAS; BUT I HAD HER IN VIEW ALL THE TIME. IT STARTED TO RAIN AND I WAS AT HER 8 O'CLOCK POS AT 800 FT. SHE WAS AT 1000 FT AT MY 2 O'CLOCK POS. SHE WOULD NOT LET ME GET IN FRONT OF HER; EVEN THOUGH I WAS ALREADY PAST HER. I THEN EXTENDED MY DOWNWIND IN VFR CONDITIONS. WITHOUT GETTING INTO IMC; I LET HER GO IN BEFORE ME TO DO HER TOUCH-AND-GO. NOW IT STARTED TO RAIN; BUT THE ARPT WAS STILL VFR. SHE HAD AN INSTRUCTOR WITH HER WHICH SHOULD HAVE USED A LITTLE COMMON SENSE THAT A C310 IS FASTER IN THE PATTERN THAN A C152. AS I LINED UP ON FINAL; IT STARTED TO RAIN VERY HARD AND SHE DID HER TOUCH-AND-GO AND I LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. AGAIN; IF SOME COMMON SENSE WAS USED BY THE INSTRUCTOR; THIS EVENT WOULD HAVE NOT HAPPENED. I KNOW THAT THE ACFT AT THE LOWER ALT HAS THE RIGHT-OF-WAY; BUT IN CLASS G AIRSPACE WE ARE THE CTLRS AND THERE SHOULD BE A TEAMWORK AT AN UNCTLED ARPT.
