CARJ FLT CREW WAS NOTIFIED HALF WAY TO THEIR DESTINATION THAT THE LOAD OF THE ACFT WAS GREATER THAN REPORTED AT TKOF; AND ACTUALLY EXCEEDED MAX ZFW AND CARGO CONTAINER LIMITATIONS.

Narrative

DURING WT AND BALANCE CALCULATIONS WE WERE WELL AWARE THAT WE WERE CLOSE TO MAX ZFW. WE HAD 40 ADULTS AND 1 CHILD ONBOARD. WE WERE PROVIDED A LOAD SHEET WHICH STATED WE HAD 2486 LBS OF CARGO IN C4. THIS PUT OUR ZFW AT 37675 LBS; WHICH IS 23 LBS UNDER MAX ZFW FOR AN EMB140. ENRTE; WE RECEIVED AN ACARS MESSAGE FROM DISPATCH STATING THAT OUR C4 WT WAS ACTUALLY 2746 LBS; NOT 2486 LBS WHICH WAS ON THE LOAD SHEET. WE CALCULATED OUR NEW ZFW TO BE 37935 LBS. WE THEREFORE HAD EXCEEDED BOTH OUR MAX C4 CARGO WT AND MAX ZFW; UNBEKNOWNST TO US UNTIL HALFWAY THROUGH OUR FLT. WE RECHECKED THE LOAD SHEET AND THE MATH HAD BEEN DONE CORRECTLY. WE CAN ONLY SURMISE THAT BAGS WERE ADDED AND THE RAMP WORKERS FORGOT TO ADD THEM TO THE LOAD SHEET UNTIL AFTER WE HAD DEPARTED. UPON LNDG; THE CAPT CALLED MAINT CTL. MAINT CTL TOLD THE CAPT THAT NO INSPECTION WAS NECESSARY. HOWEVER; AFTER TALKING WITH THE CHIEF PLT'S OFFICE; THE CAPT WROTE UP BOTH EXCEEDANCES IN THE AML. CONTRACT MAINT CAME OVER AND INSPECTED THE C4 COMPARTMENT; BUT PER MAINT CTL BALANCED THE ZFW EXCEEDANCE BY WRITING 'NO INSPECTION REQUIRED.' HAVE A RAMP SUPERVISOR RECHECK THE CARGO COMPARTMENT AND VERIFY THE SLIP IS CORRECT. IF EXCEEDING THE MZFW DOES NOT REQUIRE AN INSPECTION; WHY HAVE IT AS A LIMITATION.
