AN MD80 DURING A SPECIAL ITEM CHK JOB CARD AUDIT WAS FOUND TO HAVE A LOWER TIME LIMIT BUT THE LOWER TIME WAS NOT ENTERED ON THE JOB CARD.

Narrative

RECORDS CLERK FAILS TO LOWER INSPECTION HRS REQUIREMENT. WHILE AUDITING SPECIAL ITEM CHK; I FOUND A SPECIAL ITEM CHK THAT SHOWED AN ACCOMPLISHMENT DATE OF JUL/MON/05 FOR SPECIAL ITEM CHK. THE MESSAGE STATED A LOWER ALLOWABLE THAN PREVIOUS INSPECTION. EMPLOYEE CIRCLED ALLOWABLE AND WROTE LOWER; BUT FAILED TO LOWER THE LIMIT. ACFT WAS SENT TO ZZZ TO HAVE THE SPECIAL ITEM CHK INSPECTION DONE. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 669914: ACCOMPLISHED SPECIAL ITEM CHK ON POS #1 EFFECTIVE JUL/XX/05. MESSAGE RECEIVED JUL/YY/05 AND ACCOMPLISHMENT RPTED ON RPT. MESSAGE LOWERED ALLOWED HRS FROM 2000 HRS TO 250 HRS. DURING MY PROCESSING OF THE MESSAGE INFO; I FAILED TO LOWER THE ALLOWED HRS AND FAILED TO SELF-AUDIT PER NORMAL PROCS. I PASSED THE MESSAGE TO MR X FOR AUDIT. PART OF OUR PROCESS INCLUDES ENTERING A MEMO IN OUR SYS AS TO AUTH FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT. WHEN I DO THIS; I NOW DOUBLECHK THE ALLOWED HRS TO ENSURE THEY ARE CORRECT. NO EQUIP; ACFT DESIGN; LACK OF TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE; ENVIRONMENT; SUPERVISION OR COM CONTRIBUTED TO MY PERSONAL ERROR. I APPARENTLY WAS INTERRUPTED IN MY TASK; AND FAILED TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS AND FAILED TO SELF-AUDIT.
