B747-400 FLT CREW DETAIL DIFFICULTIES INHERENT IN AN UNPLANNED DIVERSION FOR FUEL.
Narrative
THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED FOLLOWING A MIN FUEL DIVERSION TO AN UNFAMILIAR ARPT. DURING PREFLT BRIEF; FO CALLED UP WT MANIFEST; AND PERFORMANCE DATA FOR FLAPS 10; RWY 36; AND FLAPS 20; RWY 36. THE ZFW ON THE FLT PLAN MATCHED THE ZFW ON THE ACARS RWY PERFORMANCE DATA. AS A CREW; WE PERFORMED THE PREDEP BRIEF AS WELL AS THE PERFORMANCE BRIEF. AFTER DISCUSSION THAT NOTHING WAS BOARDED OR DEPLANED; WE CONCLUDED THAT OUR ZFW WOULD NOT CHANGE. CLRNC WAS INCORRECT; ORIGINALLY SHOWED FLT DEPARTING FROM RJTT; NOT RJGG. A SIGNIFICANT EFFORT WAS REQUIRED ON OUR PART TO CORRECT THE PROB BETWEEN COMPANY DISPATCH AND JAPANESE ATC. WALK AROUND; PUSHBACK; AND ENG START WERE NORMAL. TAXI OUT WAS IN UNFAMILIAR PAD AREA WITH NUMEROUS LIGHT POLES; ACFT; EQUIP; AND VEHICLES BEFORE JOINING THE PARALLEL TXWY FOR RWY 36. LANGUAGE BARRIER DIFFICULTIES WITH GND CTLR WERE SIGNIFICANT. AFTER JOINING THE PARALLEL TXWY; THE TAXI DISTANCE AND TIME WAS RELATIVELY SHORT. BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST ACCOMPLISHED ON SHORT PARALLEL TXWY. NOTE THAT WT MANIFEST IS NORMALLY SENT TO CREW AUTOMATICALLY AROUND THIS POINT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS INCLUDED LONG DUTY PERIOD (OVER 15 HRS); CONFUSION OVER INCORRECT DISPATCH FROM RJTT TO RJAA; FLT ATTENDANT CREW DUTY LIMITS DISCUSSION WITH OPS; DIVERSION WITH MIN FUEL; WX ISSUES; FATIGUE; AND THAT LOAD PLANNING DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY SEND FINAL WTS TO THE ACFT THROUGH ACARS DURING TAXI OUT. OUTCOME WAS AN UNEVENTFUL TKOF AND LNDG.
