Synopsis

PLT OF LR25 FEELS FAA RAMP INSPECTORS AT LAX ARE OVERLY ENTHUSIASTIC IN THEIR ENDEAVORS.

Narrative

UPON ARRIVING AT THE LAX ARPT; I WAS GREETED BY THE FAA. 2 INSPECTORS GREETED US. ONE ADMINISTRATIVE; ONE MAINT. THE MAINT INSPECTOR FOUND 17 ITEMS HE FELT WERE DEFICIENT. THIS ACFT DOES NOT HAVE AN MEL; THEREFORE; I PUT EVERY ITEM ON A DISCREPANCY LIST AND GNDED THE ACFT. THIS EVENT TOOK PLACE OVER 2 DAYS. APPROX 2 HRS THE FIRST DAY; AND 5 HRS THE SECOND DAY. 8 OF OUR DISCREPANCY ITEMS WERE FOUND DURING A 2 HR UNSUPERVISED INSPECTION BY THE FAA MAINT INSPECTOR. MANY OF THE ITEMS THE INSPECTOR FOUND WERE ITEMS EVEN HE WASN'T SURE OF. NOT BEING AN A&P OR HAVING ANY REAL MAINT EXPERIENCE; I COULD NOT DISCUSS THE ISSUES WITH THE INSPECTOR. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN 3 MONTHS THAT I WAS RAMPED BY THE LOS ANGELES FSDO. ALTHOUGH I DON'T HAVE THE NUMBERS; I AM TOLD BY MY CERTIFICATE HOLDER THAT ALL ACFT SHOULD EXPECT TO BE RAMPED ANY TIME THEY ARE IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA. AND SEVERAL HAVE BEEN. IN THE 2 YRS I HAVE BEEN FLYING FOR COMPANY X; I HAVE ONLY BEEN RAMPED TWICE; BOTH BY THE LOS ANGELES FSDO.
