Narrative

PASSING FL300 IN THE CLB TO FL330; TEN MI PAST CLARE ON THE CLARE 2 DFW RNAV DEP; CTR ADVISED WE'D MISSED OUR TURN TO POTEN AND DIRECTED AN IMMEDIATE TURN TO 060 DEGS. THE CALL TOTALLY SURPRISED US AND WE SCRAMBLED TO FIGURE OUT THE SITUATION. WE'D PAID CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THE CLRNC AT DFW WITH THE EMPHASIS ON RNAV SIDS. DURING RTE VERIFICATION; THE CLARE 2 SWB PORTION FELL BETWEEN PAGES ON THE FMS LEGS PAGE. WE INADVERTENTLY READ AND PROGRAMMED THE CLRNC AS CLARE DIRECT SWB. CLARE FELL AT THE BOTTOM OF ONE LEGS RATE AND SWB STARTED THE NEXT. DURING RTE CONFIRMATION; SOMEHOW I MISSED THE TWO INTERVENING POINTS; POTEN AND TREKE. I THINK I PLACED EMPHASIS ON THE FIRST THREE POINTS AND RELAXED ON THE FOLLOWING POINTS. ATC ADVISED THAT NO PROBS HAD RESULTED. LESSON LEARNED -- EXAMINE THE TRANSITION LEGS. ODD -- I HAD CAUGHT THIS KIND OF THING IN THE PAST. MISSED IT THAT DAY.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR ADVISED THE PDC PRINTOUT WAS UNCLEAR THAT A TRANSITION WAS REQUIRED BETWEEN CLARE AND SWB.
