Narrative
XA15 LCL TIME AFTER 2 1/2 HRS OF FLT; ACR X CONTACT TWR RPT 10 MI OUT; WHILE PREPARING TO LAND; AFTER HAVING ENERGIZED GEAR PUMP; A PARTIAL PANEL PWR LOSS WAS ENCOUNTERED; ALL COM; G-530; XPONDER; HSI; PWRED DOWN. NEARING 2 MI OUT AND NOT ABLE TO RPT/COMMUNICATE; I ELECTED A 180 DEG COURSE REVERSAL; WHILE FLYING N FOR APPROX 5 MINS I ATTEMPTED TO COM WITH ZZZ USING MY HANDHELD; THEN WHILE FLYING W; I DETERMINED TO USE CELL PHONE AS 'LAST RESORT;' TWR-CONFIRMED LOCATION; AND CLRED ME TO LAND RWY 28L. I FLEW A STANDARD APCH; VERIFIED THE FLOAT 'WHIP' INDICATOR TO CONFIRM GEAR DOWN BUT; UPON TOUCHDOWN THE MAIN GEAR HELD; BUT BOTH THE NOSE GEAR SLOWLY RETRACTED/COLLAPSED -- MINOR MATERIAL OF THE KEELS IN THE FRONT 1/3 (2 FT AREA) OF EACH PONTOON WERE GROUND DOWN DURING A 400 FT ROLLOUT. WE TOWED ACFT TO ELECTRICAL SHOP FOR SVC; NO INJURIES AND NO MATERIAL DAMAGE TO ACFT. WITH MORE THAN 50% OF THE KEELS INTACT; NO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WILL BE REQUIRED. THE LCL FAA REPRESENTATIVE (FAA-FSDO) MET WITH ME. HE CONFIRMED A COLLAPSE OF FRONT GEAR; AND REQUESTED THAT OUR SHOP KEEP HIM POSTED OF THEIR FINDING AS TO THE ELECTRICAL SYS OUTAGE. HE STATED THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE OF A GEAR PUMP AND COM/NAV ELECTRICAL LINK; AND AT THIS TIME NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS COULD BE INTERRELATED.
