Narrative
I HAD TAXIED OUT TO THE RUN-UP AREA FOR A DEP ON RWY 28. SKY WAS CLR: WIND WAS RPTED TO BE FROM 240 DEGS AT 7-9 KTS. THIS WAS VISUALLY CONFIRMED BY THE STEAM RISING FROM THE COOLING TOWERS. I OBSERVED AN ACFT DEPART ON RWY 28 WHILE I WAS TAXIING OUT. I PULLED INTO THE RUN-UP AREA; AND BEGAN MY PROCS. ANOTHER C172 WHO HAD JUST LANDED; RED AND WHITE IN COLOR; ASKED TO DEPART AHEAD OF ME; AND I RESPONDED 'OF COURSE.' HE ANNOUNCED HIS INTENTION ON CTAF TO TAKE 'ACTIVE RWY 28 FOR DEP;' AND THEN 'CESSNA DEPARTING RWY 28;' AS I WAS FINISHING MY RUN-UP. I WATCHED THE DEPARTING ACFT CLBING AWAY; TURNED ON MY LNDG AND TAXI LIGHTS (MY TAIL STROBE WAS ALREADY ON DURING TAXI) AND ANNOUNCED ON CTAF 'SKYHAWK TAKING THE ACTIVE RWY 28 FOR DEP.' I WAITED ABOUT 5 SECONDS; AS IS MY HABIT; TO HEAR IF ANYONE ON CTAF OBJECTS; AND THEN TAXIED ONTO RWY 28 AND LINED UP WITH THE CTRLINE. I DID MY LAST MIN PRE-ROLL CHK; ABOUT 5 MORE SECONDS; AND ANNOUNCED 'SKYHAWK DEPARTING RWY 28.' I ADVANCED THE THROTTLE; AND WAS ROLLING DOWN THE CTRLINE; CHKED AIRSPD AND ENG GAUGES; AND I LOOKED BACK DOWN THE RWY. AT THIS POINT I OBSERVED A TWIN ENG BEECH BARON ABOUT 10 FT OFF THE GND; FLARING FOR A LNDG ON RWY 10; THE RECIPROCAL OF MY DEP RWY. I THEN HEARD SOMEONE ON CTAF YELL 'SOME GUY IS COMING IN ON RWY 10!' AT THIS TIME I WAS PASSING 35 KTS; AND AS THE OTHER ACFT WAS NOT TALKING; I DID NOT KNOW WHAT HIS INTENTIONS MIGHT BE. I CUT THE THROTTLE TO IDLE; APPLIED ALL THE BRAKES I COULD WHILE MAINTAINING CTL; AND MOVED TO THE EXTREME R OF RWY 28. I WAS CARRYING TOO MUCH SPD; BUT A MADE A MARGINALLY SAFE R TURN AT THE FIRST TAXI INTXN I CAME TO; AND WAS CLR OF THE ACTIVE RWY BEFORE THE TWIN BEECH REACHED MY POS. I ANNOUNCED ON CTAF THAT I WAS CLR OF THE ACTIVE; AND WAS TAXIING BACK FOR ANOTHER DEP. I HEARD THE PLT OF THE BEECH ANNOUNCE ON CTAF 'SORRY ABOUT THAT WE HAVE A DOOR OPEN; AND COULDN'T HEAR THE RADIO.' I DID NOT RESPOND.
