M20 (MOONEY) PLT HAS A GEAR UP LNDG.

Narrative

I WAS CONDUCTING A LCL FLT FOR PLEASURE. MY WIFE WAS THE SOLE PAX. WE HAD FLOWN APPROX 1/2 HR AND RETURNED TO THE UNCTLED FIELD; WHERE THE AIRPLANE IS BASED. I ENTERED THE PATTERN AT A 45 DEG ANGLE R PATTERN FOR RWY 17. I READ THE CHKLIST TO MYSELF. I READ; BUT DID NOT LOWER THE LNDG GEAR. I WAS DISTR BY A GAUGE READING AN ERRATIC VOLTAGE (12 FLASHING AND THEN GOING BACK TO NORMAL) AS I REDUCED ENG PWR. I USUALLY CALL OUT; GEAR IS DOWN ON DOWNWIND; BASE AND FINAL. MY WIFE USUALLY CONFIRMS IT; ALTHOUGH SHE IS NOT A PLT. I DIDN'T DO IT THIS TIME. I NOTICED WHEN WE FLARED THAT WE FLOATED A LONG WAY. BY THE TIME I REALIZED THE PROB WE WERE SETTLING ONTO THE RWY AND I DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE MORE DAMAGE BY A PARTIAL GEAR LOWERING. I DIDN'T GO AROUND BECAUSE I BELIEVED THE PROP WAS GOING TO STRIKE AND BE DAMAGED AND WE WOULD TURN THE INCIDENT INTO A FATAL ACCIDENT. THE PLANE SETTLED ONTO THE RWY AND SLID TO A STOP. NO INJURIES. NO DAMAGE OR DANGER TO ANYONE ON THE GND. EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING. THE AIRPLANE REMAINED ON THE RWY. THE PROP WAS BENT. THE ENG HAD A SUDDEN STOPPAGE. THE FRONT GEAR DOORS WERE SCRAPED AND THE BELLY PANELS AND STEP WERE SCRAPED. THE WINGS NEVER TOUCHED THE GND.
