Narrative

SHORELINE 8 DEP REQUIRES A R TURN TO HDG 040 DEGS SHORTLY AFTER TKOF TO AVOID TERRAIN IN THE TURN PATH. BRIEFED FO (THE PF) TO START TURN AT 400 FT AGL BUT NOT MUCH LATER TO AVOID MOUNTAIN. NOTED A L XWIND ON TKOF AND A RAIN SHAFT ON THE W DEP END OF RWY 28R. FO STARTED TURN AT 150 FT RA AND SLOWLY ROLLED INTO A 25 DEG BANK. I ELECTED NOT TO INTERVENE AND THE TURN CONTINUED. AT ABOUT HDG 010 DEGS ENCOUNTERED A MILD WINDSHEAR EVENT WHICH DID NOT TRIGGER THE ONBOARD DETECTION EQUIP BUT DID CAUSE A SLIGHT JOLT; THE BANK ANGLE TO INCREASE TO 35 DEG DEGS AND THE NOSE TO DROP AS WELL AND THE AIRSPD TO V2 -5 KTS. I; THE CAPT AND THE PNF; CALLED OUT 'BANK ANGLE' AND AS THE PF WAS CORRECTING; THE STICK SHAKER SOUNDED FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS. CONTINUED TURN TO 040 DEGS AND ROLLED OUT AT ABOUT AN ALT OF 1500-1800 FT. CONTINUED THE CLB PROC AND ASKED TWR FOR A FREQ CHANGE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 689297: THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION AS TO THE CAPT'S INSTRUCTIONS TO START THE TURN ASAP. AT APPROX 200 FT; I BEGAN THE TURN TO THE E. AT APPROX 010 DEGS; WE ENCOUNTERED A BUMP/SHEAR WHICH CAUSED THE BANK TO INCREASE TO APPROX 35 DEGS BANK. THE CAPT CALLED OUT BANK ANGLE AND I TOLD HIM I WAS CORRECTING. AS I ROLLED WINGS LEVEL; THE NOSE FELL OFF TO APPROX 2 DEGS ANU. AT THAT POINT; WE GOT A MOMENTARY (2 SECOND) STICK SHAKER.
