A GULFSTREAM I MANDATED WING PLANK X-RAY INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED PER CUSTOMER BULLETIN CB 337B. FOUND EXISTING CORROSION IN THE WINGS. PER BULLETIN MUST FIX!

Narrative

OWNER/OPERATOR AND AIRCREW HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF EXISTING CORROSION IN THE WINGS. THIS CORROSION WAS FOUND DURING AN INSPECTION MANDATED BY GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE; WHO IS THE MANUFACTURER. I FEEL SAFETY SHOULD NOT BE COMPROMISED; THEREFORE COMPLYING WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS OUTLINED ON THIS CUSTOMER BULLETIN; WHERE IT SAYS IF CORROSION OR CRACKS ARE FOUND; IT MUST BE REPAIRED. ACFT IN QUESTION WAS RETURNED BACK TO SVC BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME. MY EMPLOYER CHOSE TO TERMINATE MY SVCS THAN TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION. I AM NO LONGER ASSOCIATED WITH 2 ACFT MAINTAINED WITH THIS COMPANY; NOR DO I KNOW HOW MAINT/SAFETY IS PROVIDED.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE MANDATED INSPECTION WAS NOT PERFORMED BY HIM BUT BY A PROFESSIONAL; NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING ORGANIZATION THAT X-RAYED THE LOWER WING PLANKS PER THE MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER BULLETIN; CB 337B. THE X-RAY INSPECTION REVEALED CORROSION ON THE LOWER WING PLANKS WHERE THEY ARE FASTENED TO THE SPARS AND ENTAILS OPENING UP THE WING STRUCTURE FOR REPAIR. THE CUSTOMER BULLETIN REQUIRES REPAIR IF CORROSION IS DISCOVERED. THE RPTR INSISTED THE REPAIR BE ACCOMPLISHED PRIOR TO RETURNING THE AIRPLANE TO SVC.
