E170 FLT CREW TAKING OFF ON RWY 17R ON THE TRISS RNAV SID FROM DFW MAKES INITIAL TURN TO THE R VICE L TO INTERCEPT THE 153 DEG COURSE INTO NAVYE.

Narrative

WE WERE DEPARTING RWY 17R AT DFW. OUR CLRNC WAS THE 'RNAV TRISS DEP.' THAT DEP REQUIRES THE 'CORRECT RWY' TO BE ENTERED IN THE FMS (WHICH WE ABSOLUTELY DID CORRECTLY). IN FACT; WE EVEN VERIFY THE FIRST FIX WITH ATC (WHICH WE DID). AFTER DEP AND 'NAV' WAS DEPRESSED AT THE CORRECT ALT; THE ACFT STARTED TURNING R. I IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND CORRECTED. THE ACFT DID NOT EVEN DEVIATE MUCH; HOWEVER THE TWR CTLR SAW THE ACFT INITIALLY BANK AND MADE A 'CAUSTIC COMMENT' AND IMPLIED THAT WE MUST HAVE ENTERED THE WRONG RWY. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! I FLEW THE EMB170 AT MY PREVIOUS ACR. THERE WAS A STANDING MEMO 'NOT TO ACCEPT AN RNAV' DEP OUT OF DFW. I'M NOT CLEAR WHY; HOWEVER; I AM FLYING THE EXACT SAME AIRPLANE AT THIS ACR AND I AM UNAWARE OF SUCH A MEMO THERE (THAT'S NOT TO SAY THAT THERE ISN'T ONE). MY POINT IS -- THAT IT IS NO SECRET IN THE INDUSTRY THAT THE HONEYWELL PRIMUS EPIC AVIONICS SUITE (THAT IS INSTALLED IN THE EMB170) HAS SERIOUS SOFTWARE ISSUES. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT HAPPENED; BUT I SUSPECT THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH AN ANOMALY WITH THE HONEYWELL PRIMUS EPIC SOFTWARE. I WANT TO REITERATE THAT I CAUGHT THE TRANSGRESSION AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED -- I JUST WASN'T HAPPY WITH THE CTLR'S 'CAUSTIC REMARK' THAT IS OBVIOUSLY RECORDED.
