LR31 FLT CREW ON DALTON 1 DEP FROM TEB OVERSHOOTS INITIAL ALT OF 1300 FT.

Narrative

FO WAS IN ACFT COMPUTING TOLD AND OBTAINING IFR CLRNC WHILE CAPT WAS PERFORMING EXTERIOR WALK AROUND AND COMPLETING PAYMENT FOR FBO SVCS. WHEN CAPT HAD FINISHED; HE JOINED FO IN COCKPIT TO BEGIN DEP. CLRNC AND ROUTING WERE DISCUSSED. FO PRESENTED CAPT THE TEB 5 DEP AND HAD SET NAVAIDS AND ALT ALERTER CORRECTLY FOR TEB 5 DEP. COMMENT WAS MADE BY CAPT TO FO HOW EVERYTHING WAS CORRECT AND ROUTING WAS THEN DISCUSSED AND USING A HIGHLIGHT PEN WAS DRAWN ON IFR CHART. WHILE HOLDING NUMBER ONE FOR DEP RWY 19 WE AGAIN REVIEWED THE DEP. AFTER CLRNC ONTO THE RWY WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. WE EXECUTED THE PROC; RWY HEADING TO 800 FT THEN TURN TO R HEADING 280 DEGS AND MAINTAIN 1500 FT. AFTER THE TURN AND LEVELOFF WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT DEP. FO THEN CHKED IN LEVEL 1500 FT DALTON DEP. THIS IMMEDIATELY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION BECAUSE THE DEP THE FO HAD GIVEN ME AND SET UP IN THE COCKPIT WAS FOR THE TEB 5 DEP. ATC ACKNOWLEDGED OUR CHK AND THEN INFORMED US WE WERE IN VIOLATION OF THE DALTON DEP AND TOLD US IT WAS VERY CLRLY DEPICTED ON THE DEP PLATE. I IMMEDIATELY DSNDED TO 1300 FT INFORMED ATC WHO SAID WE WERE IN VIOLATION OF THE DEP AND THAT THE BIG GUY ABOVE US (I ASSUME TFC IN EWR) WAS UNHAPPY ABOUT IT. WE HEARD NOTHING ELSE AND CONTINUED THE FLT. AFTER ARRIVING AT ILG AND REVIEWING THE DEP CHART IT WAS OBVIOUS WE HAD RECEIVED THE DALTON DEP WHICH IS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE TEB DEP CHART BUT HAD LOOKED AT; SET UP AND FLOWN THE TEB 5 DEP. THE FO ACKNOWLEDGED SHE HAD DONE JUST THAT. I BELIEVE THE FO JUST BECAME CONFUSED AFTER RECEIVING THE CLRNC AND LOOKED AT THE WRONG SIDE OF THE DEP CHART. THE DEPS ARE SIMILAR IN INITIAL TURN ALT AND HEADING BUT THE DALTON DEP STATES REMAIN VFR BELOW 1300 FT. THIS WAS THE FO'S INITIAL TRIP INTO TEB. MORE ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND BETTER CREW COMS ON CLRNCS RECEIVED WOULD HELP IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE. PERHAPS THE DEPS BEING SO SIMILAR BUT PRINTED ON DIFFERENT PAGES WOULD ALSO HELP PREVENT THIS TYPE ERROR.
