B737-300 FLT CREW DURING PUSHBACK PROCS IMPACTS THE JETWAY AND DAMAGES THE ANGLE OF ATTACK PROBE.
Narrative
ACFT HAD AN INOP APU. ALL PREFLT CHKS WERE COMPLETED NORMALLY. AFTER STARTING THE #1 ENG AT THE GATE; THE JETWAY ELECTRICS WERE DISCONNECTED FROM THE AIRPLANE; AND THE JETWAY PREPARED TO BE DRIVEN BACK. AS THE JETWAY DRIVER PROCEEDED TO MOVE THE JETWAY BACK; IT LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT FIRMLY THE SIDE OF THE ACFT; THEN SLID FORWARD UP THE FUSELAGE. I HEARD A THUD; THEN A SNAP SOUND; AND I ASKED MY FO TO IMMEDIATELY CALL MAINT TO EVALUATE ANY DAMAGE TO THE PLANE. UPON THE BACKING UP OF THE JETWAY; THE DAMAGE TO THE ANGLE OF ATTACK PROBE WAS DISCOVERED. (IT HAD; IN FACT; BROKEN OFF AND WAS HANGING DOWN.) I DID NOT SEE WHETHER THE TIRES OF THE JETWAY WERE REVERSED; ALTHOUGH THAT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN THE CASE. THE FLT DEPARTED 3 HRS LATE AFTER MAINT DEFERRED THE DAMAGE; AND REPAIRED THE GOUGE ON THE TOP PITOT TUBE. ENRTE TO MSY; THERE APPEARED TO BE 3 WRITE-UPS WHICH WERE FOUND TO BE CAUSED BY THE DEFERRED ANGLE OF ATTACK PROBE. AFTER CONFERENCE WITH MAINT IT WAS DETERMINED TO REPLACE THE ANGLE OF ATTACK VANE BEFORE THE PLANE FLEW AGAIN.
