A J3 TAKING OFF AT CTAF ARPT AIK TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID CONFLICT WITH A PA30 TAKING OFF ON AN INTERSECTING RWY.

Narrative

WINDS (SURFACE) AT THE TIME WERE APPROX 040 DEGS AT 8 KTS. ACFT WERE USING RWY 6. ONE JET DEPARTED RWY 6 AND ANOTHER ACFT HAD TAXIED OUT TO RWY 6. I TAXIED OUT TO RWY 36; MADE MY RUNUP; THEN WAITED FOR AN ACFT TO LAND ON RWY 6. WHEN THE ACFT LANDED ON RWY 6; I ANNOUNCED THAT I WAS 'TAXIING INTO POS AND HOLDING ON RWY 36.' AFTER THE LNDG ACFT ON RWY 6 WAS CLR OF RWY 6; I ANNOUNCED THAT I WAS 'DEPARTING RWY 36 AT AIK....' AS I LIFTED OFF TO APPROX 100 FT. I SAW THE TWIN COMANCHE ROLLING; THEN LIFTING OFF RWY 6. I IMMEDIATELY MADE A STEEP R TURN TO AVOID XING INTXN OF RWY 36 AND RWY 6 (IN THE AIR). THERE WAS MORE THAN ADEQUATE CLRNC; HOWEVER; IT WAS DISCONCERTING BECAUSE THE TWIN COMANCHE NEVER CALLED ON FREQ 122.8 TO ANNOUNCE HIS DEP. IF SO; I WOULD HAVE HELD IN POS UNTIL HIS TKOF AND HE WAS WELL CLR. THE UNICOM AT AIK AND OTHER ACFT HEARD MY XMISSIONS AND I HEARD THEIRS; HOWEVER; I SUSPECT THE TWIN COMANCHE MIGHT HAVE REMAINED ON THE FSS FREQ 122.45 OR SOME OTHER ATC FREQ AND WAS OBTAINING A CLRNC AND POSSIBLY DID NOT SWITCH TO FREQ 122.8 FOR DEP FROM AIKEN ARPT. NOTE: THE RUNUP POS AT RWY 6 IS NOT VISIBLE FROM THE RUNUP POS OF RWY 36 AND VICE VERSA.
