AN MD80 ABORTED TKOF AND EVACED THE ACFT DUE TO OIL FUMES IN CABIN CAUSED BY A BROKEN OIL LINE IN APU COMPARTMENT. ACFT DAMAGED.
Narrative
APPARENT ANALYSIS OF THE EVENT SUGGESTS CREW DECISION IN TAKING IMMEDIATE ACTION TO ABORT ACFT BY EXERCISING EMER EVAC. THE DECISION WAS MADE BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE CABIN WAS FUMIGATED AS A RESULT OF AN OIL LINE RUPTURE IN THE APU COMPARTMENT. IN THE PROCESS OF THE EMER EVAC OF THE ACFT; EMER EVAC PROCS WERE FOLLOWED AND SOME OF THE EQUIP WERE HURRIEDLY DISPOSED OF. THE ACTION RESULTED IN MINOR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIP AS WELL AS THE INFLATION OF THE EVAC SLIDES. AFTER THE EVAC OF THE EQUIP; WITH THE SUPPORT THROUGH MAINT CTL AND REF TO THE FERRY PERMIT; THE ACFT WAS AUTH FOR A FERRY PERMIT FOR REPAIR. PLEASE NOTE; THE WORK ENVIRONMENT WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS EVENT AND MAINT WAS FOLLOWED WITH THE DOCUMENTS FAXED TO MAINT CTL PRIOR TO THE FERRY FLT. HRS WORKED REMAIN WHICH WERE MANAGED BY THE STAFF. THE DEPTS INVOLVED WERE MAINT AND ENGINEERING; SUPPORTING THE COMPLETION OF THE PAPERWORK PER FERRY PERMIT. IN THIS CASE; MAINLY THE MAINT CTL. THE FLT CREW WERE BRIEFED AND RECEIVED ALL THE PAPERWORK (INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL COPIES) PRIOR TO THE FLT.
