MD80 FLYING CLARE RNAV SID SWB TRANSITION FROM DFW DROPS SECOND OF 3 WAYPOINTS ON THE TRANSITION. ACFT ATTEMPTS TO FLY POTEN DIRECT TO SWB.

Narrative

DEPARTING FROM DTW ON THE CLARE 2 DEP; WE WERE FLYING THE DEP. DURING OUR PREDEP BRIEFING; WE REVIEWED THE DEP TOGETHER IN THE COCKPIT AND WENT THROUGH THE WAYPOINTS; WE BELIEVED WE HAD PERFORMED THIS DUTY DILIGENTLY. HOWEVER; WHILE WITH ZFW CLBING TO FL330 WE WERE ASKED IF WE WERE STILL ON THE DEP OR WHERE WERE WE GOING. I LOOKED AT THE PFD AND IT HAD US DIRECT TO SWB AT THAT TIME. EITHER TEKBE WAS DROPPED FROM THE DEP; BECAUSE I HAD SEEN POTEN PRIOR TO BEING ASKED WHERE WE WERE GOING AND SINCE I SAW THE CAPT SELECT THE SWB TRANSITION IN THE BOX PRIOR TO DEP; I BELIEVED WE WERE ON OUR ASSIGNED RTE AND CLRED. ONCE TOLD OF OUR ERROR BY ATC; WE MADE AN IMMEDIATE L TURN TO TEKBE AND COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 3 NM LATERALLY FROM IT AFTER THIS WE WERE ASKED TO CALL ZFW DUE TO POSSIBLE PLTDEV. THE REST OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR WAS ADAMANT THAT ALL REQUIRED RTE CHKS; INCLUDING A COMPARISON TO THE PAPER PROC; WERE PERFORMED AND THAT ALL APPROPRIATE WAYPOINTS WERE IN THE ACTIVE RTE. RPTR WAS EQUALLY CERTAIN THAT NEITHER THE CDU OR THE MOVING MAP DISPLAY SHOWED ANY EVIDENCE OF A RTE DISCONTINUITY.
