PA28 PLT ENTERS THE PATTERN AND LANDS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AT AN UNCTLED ARPT.

Narrative

I WAS ON A LONG XCOUNTRY TRAINING FLT DURING WHICH A LNDG AT BRENHAM; TX (RWY 11R) WAS PLANNED. IN PREPARATION FOR LNDG; I TUNED IN THE UNICOM FREQ AND COMMUNICATED MY POS. I ENTERED A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 34 BASED UPON THE PREVAILING WINDS. I DID NOT HEAR ANY OTHER ACFT IN THE AREA; BUT WAS LOOKING FOR OTHER ACFT IN THE PATTERN. DURING THE FLARE; ANOTHER ACFT PASSED OVER ME AT ABOUT 300 FT. THE ACFT LEFT THE AREA AND I DID NOT OBSERVE THE TAIL NUMBERS. I CONTINUED MY LNDG AND TAXIED TO THE PARKING AREA. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE OTHER ACFT WAS TAKING OFF DOWNWIND; LNDG DOWNWIND; OR JUST MAKING A LOW PASS AND I DON'T KNOW IF THEY EVEN SAW ME. WHILE REVIEWING THE INCIDENT; I DISCOVERED THAT I HAD MADE 2 MISTAKES. I TUNED THE PROPER FREQ INTO THE RADIO; BUT DID NOT SWITCH TO IT. THEREFORE; MY COMS WERE NOT BEING RECEIVED BY OTHER ACFT IN THE AREA. IN ADDITION; I FLEW A R-HAND PATTERN WHEN THE TFC PATTERN FOR RWY 34 IS L HANDED. CAREFUL PLANNING AND ATTN TO DETAIL ON THE RADIO FREQ WOULD PREVENT THIS EVENT FROM OCCURRING.
