Narrative

ACR X HAS A TIME DEFERRED MAINT ITEM THAT READS AS FOLLOWS: 'R-HAND AILERON TRAILING HAS LIGHTNING STRIKE DAMAGE/SPD TAPE APPLIED.' CAPT PERFORMED GENERAL VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE DAMAGE ON THE R-HAND AILERON EVERY 250 FLT CYCLES AND IF DAMAGE PRESENTS EVOLUTION REPAIR IMMEDIATELY. WHEN DOING THE TIME DEFERRED MAINT ITEM BACK IN JANUARY; I INADVERTENTLY ENTERED DAYS INSTEAD OF CYCLES. THE PROB WAS NOT CAUGHT UNTIL (DATE) WHEN MY MAINT OPS DIRECTOR BROUGHT THIS TO MY ATTN WITH A CORRECTION RPT FILE. WHEN QUESTIONED WHY I COULD POSSIBLY HAVE DONE THIS; I TOLD INFORMED HIM THAT IT BEING SO LONG AGO I CANNOT GIVE A GOOD ANSWER; BUT THAT I COULD ONLY ASSUME I WAS REALLY; REALLY BUSY. I KNOW HOW TO DO TIME DEFERRED MAINT ITEMS VERY WELL AND THAT WOULD BE MY ONLY REASON WHY THIS HAPPENED. IT GETS VERY BUSY HERE MOST DAYS AND SOMETIMES WE ARE SHORTHANDED. NOT AN EXCUSE FOR MISTAKES; BUT THIS IS MY BEST GUESS WHY. I DO TIME DEFERRED MAINT ITEMS EVERY DAY AND THIS IS A FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME (TO MY KNOWLEDGE).
