Narrative
WE HAD EXPECTED AND BRIEFED RWY 34 DEP. INSTEAD WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 28. DURING TAXI; RECHKED TKOF DATA AND BRIEFED THE DEP; AND NOISE ABATEMENT. I HAVE JUST BEEN NOTIFIED THAT I MIGHT HAVE VIOLATED THE NOISE ABATEMENT PROC FOR RWY 28. IN THE FUTURE I WILL TAKE MORE TIME TO ENSURE THAT EVERY PROC IS STRICTLY ADHERED TO. HOWEVER; IN REVIEWING THIS EVENT IN THE COMFORT OF MY HOME; I CAN'T HELP BELIEVE THAT OTHER PLTS HAVE DONE WHAT I HAVE DONE; AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. 1) IT STATES; 'CLB RWY HDG FOR VECTORS. NO L TURNS BELOW 4300 FT.' 2) ON THE NEXT PAGE UNDER NOISE ABATEMENT; IT STATES 'CLB ON THE LOC 283 TO 6500 FT BEFORE PROCEEDING ON COURSE.' 3) ABOVE THAT; IN THE PRECEDING PARAGRAPH; IT STATES: SID CANCELLATION DOES NOT TERMINATE NOISE ABATEMENT PROC. FIRST OF ALL; IT IS CLR AND EASY NOW TO REMEMBER 4300 FT; 6500 FT DON'T TURN EVEN IF TOLD TO DO SO; ETC; BUT WITH SO MANY TASKS TO DO JUST BEFORE TKOF; I BELIEVE THAT THE WAY THIS IS PRESENTED WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE CONFUSION FOR PLTS WHO RARELY GO TO CALGARY. (WHY NOT ISSUE THE STAMPEDE DEP INSTEAD.) SECOND; I CANNOT BE POSITIVE; BUT I SEEM TO REMEMBER THAT DEP CTL TOLD US TO TURN L AT SOME POINT DURING THE CLB BEFORE THE END OF THE NOISE ABATEMENT ALT. IF I AM CORRECT; I REALLY DON'T THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA. WE ARE PROGRAMMED TO RESPOND AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. IN MOST OTHER PLACES NOISE ABATEMENT OR NOT; THEY TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING; YOU DO IT; AND IT SHOULD REMAIN LIKE THAT. IMAGINE THE CHAOS IF WE HAD TO RECHK NOTES; CAUTIONS; NOTAMS; OR AUTHENTICATE EVERY INSTRUCTION.
