P180 PLT HAS 2 FLT PLANS LOST AFTER FILING ONLINE.

Narrative

I HAD FILED 2 IFR FLT PLANS ON-LINE USING MY COMMERCIAL FLT SOFTWARE. THEY WERE ACCEPTED WITH NO PROBS THAT I COULD TELL. AFTER STARTING BOTH ENGS AT CHO; I CALLED GND CTL AND REQUESTED IFR CLRNC TO IAD. THE CTLR REPLIED THAT NO FLT PLAN WAS ON FILE. THIS IS TWICE THAT HAS HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS. THE FIRST TIME WAS ON A TRIP CHO TO SLN TO HND (LAS VEGAS; NV). THE FIRST TIME WAS NO PROB BECAUSE I HAD A CELLULAR PHONE WITH ME AND I FILED IT AGAIN; THIS TIME I DID NOT. I ASKED THE CTLR IF HE COULD HELP ME OUT. HIS REPLY WAS THAT HE COULD DO NOTHING AND THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE FILED AGAIN. I ASKED IF HE COULD SET UP FLT FOLLOWING WITH POTOMAC APCH AND DEP CTL. REPLY WAS NO. HE DID TELL ME THAT HE WOULD ADVISE POTOMAC THAT I WAS COMING. IT WAS A CLR DAY WITH GOOD VISIBILITY. AT THIS POINT I DECIDED TO GO VFR. I CALLED POTOMAC ONCE I WAS IN THE AIR AND I WAS ASSIGNED A XPONDER CODE AND ASSIGNED A HDG. I WAS HANDED OFF TO POTOMAC APCH THAT CTLS WASHINGTON DULLES TFC AND I WAS ASKED IF I HAD AN ADIZ FLT PLAN ON FILE. I SAID NO; THAT I HAD AN IFR FLT PLAN ON FILE AND IT WAS LOST IN THE SYS SOMEWHERE. I WAS ON A VECTOR AND GIVEN A DSCNT TO 4000 FT. I WAS VECTORED ONTO THE LOC AND ISSUED APCH CLRNC. I DON'T FLY VFR MUCH ANYMORE. VFR FLTS IN THIS ACFT HAVE THE PAST 5 YRS; FOR THE MOST PART; BEEN LIMITED TO MAINT FLTS ONLY. AT THE TIME WHEN I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND MAKE THE FLT VFR I DID NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT AN ADIZ FLT PLAN. IF THE APCH CTLR HAD NOT ASKED ME IF I HAD FILED AN ADIZ FLT PLAN; I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT. I WAS ALLOWED TO ENTER THE CLASS B AIRSPACE AND LAND AT IAD.
