C177 PLT HAS A GEAR UP LNDG A CMA.

Narrative

I CONTACTED CAMARILLO TWR AT 9 MI AND WAS TOLD TO RPT BACK AT 3 MI. I WAS FLYING W IN LATE AFTERNOON. CONDITIONS WERE VFR BUT HAZY. WHEN I SIGHTED THE RWY; I WAS LESS THAN 3 MI OUT AND STILL AT 2000 FT AGL. I CONTACTED THE TWR AND THEY CLRED ME TO LAND. I PULLED BACK ALL PWR AND SLIPPED THE AIRPLANE TO LOSE ALT. I WAS ALSO CHKING FOR TFC AS THE ARPT WAS PRETTY BUSY. I LINED UP FOR FINAL AND REDUCED SPD TO 80 KTS. I DROPPED FLAPS 20 DEGS AND ADJUSTED MIXTURE AND PROP; BUT DID NOT VERIFY THE GREEN GEAR LIGHT. I WAS ALSO KEEPING MY EYE ON A PLANE AT THE HOLD LINE THAT WAS TOLD TO HOLD SHORT. ON FLARE; TWR TOLD ME TO GO AROUND. I REACHED FOR THE THROTTLE BUT MY PROP STRUCK THE RWY AND I WAS UNABLE TO RECOVER; LNDG ON THE RWY. DURING FINAL I DID NOT HEAR ANY AUDIBLE WARNING ABOUT THE GEAR. I WILL INSTALL A MIRROR UNDER THE WING TO VISUALLY VERIFY GEAR DOWN. I WILL VERIFY PROPER OP OF THE AUDIBLE GEAR WARNING SYS WITH A MECH. I WILL TAKE A REVIEW/TRAINING FLT WITH A CFI TO REFRESH GOOD HABITS.
