A B717 DISPLAYED NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL FAULTS AFTER A R WHEEL WELL ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WAS DISCONNECTED TO FACILITATE SEALANT REPLACEMENT ON THE SLANT PRESSURE PANEL. FOUND CONNECTOR CROSSTHREADED AND PINS NOT ENGAGED.

Narrative

I WAS GIVEN A JOB TO PERFORM; TO REPAIR BROKEN SEALANT OF SLANT PRESSURE PANEL IN THE R-HAND WHEEL WELL. I PULLED UP THE APPROPRIATE REF FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE OLD SEALANT AND FOR APPLICATION OF NEW SEALANT AHD COATING. UPON APPLICATION OF SEALANT; THE ELECTRIC CONNECTOR WAS IN THE POS THAT MADE ACCESS TO THAT AREA OF THE PANEL DIFFICULT TO APPLY THE SEALANT PROPERLY AND I DISCONNECTED THE PLUG TO GAIN A BETTER ACCESS TO THE PANEL. THE BREAK IN THE SEAL WAS DIRECTLY UNDER THE PLUG I REMOVED. AFTER THE REPAIR; I REINSTALLED THE CONNECTOR PLUG. I THOUGHT I HAD IT BACK IN PROPERLY; BECAUSE I CLOCKED IT L AND R TO CATCH THE KEYWAYS AND WHEN I FELT IT FALL IN; I BEGAN TO SCREW IT DOWN TO SECURE IT. I GOT ABOUT 4 FULL TURNS ON IT BY HAND AND THEN USED MY CHANNEL LOCKS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SECURED; SO I THOUGHT; I GOT ABOUT 1 FULL TURN MORE WITH IT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ACFT SHOWED ELECTRICAL FAULTS; BECAUSE OF MY CROSSTHREADING OF THE CONNECTOR IT WASN'T MAKING PROPER CONTACT; AND LOOKING BACK ON THE REF; I PULLED UP FOR THE SEAL THERE WAS NO PROVISION IN IT FOR REMOVING THE PLUG; AND I DID NOT. THROUGH RUSHING TO GET THE TASK DONE; MAKE A NON ROUTINE ITEM STATING THE PLUG WAS REMOVED FOR FACILITATION OF MAINT.
