A C560 ON CLBOUT AT 15000 FT EXPERIENCED A LIGHTNING STRIKE. RENDERED #1 COM INTERMITTENT. ON GND; FOUND NAV LENS PITTED AND 2 SPOTS ON MIDDLE FUSELAGE.

Narrative

WHILE ON A DEADHEAD FLT FOR A PAX PICKUP; THE ACFT WAS STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. AFTER TKOF; WHILE ON THE CLB TO 16000 FT; WE REQUESTED AND RECEIVED AUTH TO DEV L OF COURSE TO AVOID WHAT APPEARED ON THE WX RADAR AS THE WORST AREA OF STORM ACTIVITY. SEVERAL MINS AFTER LEVELING AT 15000 FT; WE WERE STRUCK BY AT LEAST 1 OR MAYBE 2 LIGHTNING BOLTS. AFTER THE STRIKE; WE CHKED OUR EQUIP AND PANEL INDICATIONS FOR ANY IRREGULARITIES. WE DISCOVERED THAT THE #1 COMS RADIO WAS AT LEAST INTERMITTENT AND POSSIBLY UNUSABLE. WE SWITCHED COMS RADIOS TO #2 WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO XMIT AND RECEIVE NORMALLY. ALL OTHER SYS APPEARED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. WE PROCEEDED ON THE FLT WITH NO FURTHER IRREGULARITIES OR INTERRUPTIONS FROM EQUIP TO A LNDG. AFTER SHUTDOWN; WE INSPECTED THE ACFT EXTERIOR FOR ANY VISIBLE ABNORMALITIES. WE DISCOVERED A PITTED AFT WHITE NAV LIGHT LENS AND RETAINER. AND; TWO 1/32 INCH MARKS ON THE MIDDLE L SIDE FUSELAGE. CHIEF PLT AND MAINT WERE ADVISED. WE WERE TOLD BY MAINT IF THERE WAS ANY FURTHER ACTION NECESSARY BY THE CREW; WE WOULD BE ADVISED. THERE WAS NO FURTHER ADVISORY AND WE RETURNED TO ZZZ WITH THE PAX WITHOUT ANY PROBS OR FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINT WAS REQUESTED TO CHK THE ACFT AND ANY NECESSARY MAINT PROCS.
