Narrative
I WAS WORKING RII; THE BROWTON SECTOR. AT ABOUT XA00; THE EGLIN LAND MISSION CTLR CALLED AND ASKED IF I KNEW THAT RESTR AREA R2914A WAS HOT UP TO FL350. I SAID 'NO.' THEN I LOOKED AT THE STATUS BOARD BEHIND ME AND SAID THAT THE ENTIRE EGLIN COMPLEX WAS HOT FROM FL240 TO FL350. I CURRENTLY HAD 1 ACR X B737 IN THE MIDDLE OF R2914A AT FL320; WBOUND TO IAH. THE MISSION CTLR SAID THAT HE SAW THE ACFT AND CAPPED HIS FIGHTERS; WHICH WERE LAUNCHING MISSILES AT THAT TIME. I THEN ASKED IF I COULD TAKE THE ACFT ALONG THE COASTLINE TO GET HIM OUT OF THERE; AND HE SAID THAT THAT MISSION WAS NOT OFF YET; SO I COULD USE THE COAST. I TURNED THE ACFT AND WAS THEN RELIEVED. I WAS NEVER TOLD BY THE SUPVR THAT THE AIRSPACE WAS HOT AND I WAS NEVER GIVEN A STRIP TELLING ME ABOUT THE AIRSPACE. I IMMEDIATELY TOLD MY SUPVR AND AREA MGR ABOUT THE INCIDENT. THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY COMMENT. THIS IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE REMOVAL OF A-SIDES FROM THE CTL ROOM. THE A-SIDE USED TO DELIVER THE STRIPS ABOUT AIRSPACE AND THE SUPVR WAS ALSO REQUIRED TO TELL YOU. NOW WE ARE RELYING ON THE SUPVRS ALONE; WHO ARE ALSO TAKING OVER THE A-SIDE'S JOB OF DELIVERING WX STRIPS; SO THEIR WORKLOAD AND THE CTLRS IS HIGHER; WHICH DIRECTLY RESULTED IN AN AIRLINER FLYING INTO AN ACTIVE ARTILLERY RANGE; NOT TO MENTION I HAD ARMED F15'S FLYING IN WHAT I THOUGHT WAS MY AIRSPACE; THAT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT.
