A B737-300 PLT RPTS THAT AFTER TKOF A WT AND BAL CHANGE WAS RECEIVED WHICH CHANGED WTS AND ADDED A HAZMAT CARGO NOTIFICATION.

Narrative

ON TAXI OUT; WE RECEIVED OUR WTS IN A TIMELY MANNER. HOWEVER; ABOUT 5 MINS BEFORE TKOF; WE RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM CTR LOAD PLANNING STATING; 'THE STATION WAS REVISED THEIR FINAL LOAD PLAN. YOUR CURRENT WTS ARE NOW INVALID.' ABOUT 2 MINS BEFORE TKOF; WE RECEIVED THE FINAL WTS. I NOTICED THE CHANGE IN ZERO FUEL WT AND ALL OTHER NUMBERS WERE THE SAME. AFTER THE NEW ZERO FUEL WT WAS ENTERED AND BRIEFED; WE TOOK OFF. OUT OF APPROX 500 FT; I NOTICED THE MESSAGE LIGHT FLASHING ON THE ACARS. AT A SAFE ALT; I READ THE MESSAGE WHICH READ; 'PLEASE CALL TWR FOR HAZMAT INFO.' CLBING OUT OF FL180; WE CALLED RAMP TWR. THE FREQ WAS SCRATCHY; SO WE HAD RAMP TWR RELAY THE INFO THROUGH DISPATCH VIA ACARS. AFTER REVIEWING THE PAPERWORK; OUR SECOND WT MANIFEST DID HAVE THE 'DANGEROUS GOODS -- YES' NOTE AT THE BOTTOM. I BELIEVE NUMEROUS FACTORS CAUSED US TO MISS THIS NOTE. FIRST; THE GND CREW NEVER TOLD US HAZMAT WAS LOADED ON THE ACFT. SECOND; WE WERE ADVISED BY CTL LOAD PLANNING THAT WE WERE RECEIVING A NEW MANIFEST BECAUSE OF NEW CARGO WT. NO MENTION BY THEM OF DANGEROUS GOODS BEING PUT ON THE ACFT. THIRD; THE COCKPIT WAS DARK. LASTLY; SINCE I WAS ONLY EXPECTING NEW NUMBERS ON THE FINAL MANIFEST; I DIDN'T READ THE NOTE ON THE BOTTOM.
