Narrative
WE WERE TOLD TO CROSS MOMAR AT FL240. FO WAS FLYING AND I SAW HIM REACH DOWN AND PUT IT IN THE BOX. I MONITORED HIS PROGRESS ON THE LEGS PAGE AND WE WERE TALKING BACK AND FORTH ABOUT VARIOUS AND SUNDRY NON FLYING RELATED ISSUES. I NOTICED THAT WE WERE STILL AT FL270 DSNDING BUT MOMAR WAS FAST APCHING. THE PROFILE ON THE PRIMARY FLT DISPLAY WAS INDICATING WE WERE ON PROFILE. HOWEVER; THERE WAS ONLY ABOUT 8 MI TO GO BEFORE MOMAR AND HE WAS ONLY DSNDING AT AROUND 1000 FPM. I SAID; 'I DON'T THINK YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE MOMAR AT FL240.' HE WAS SLOW TO RESPOND AS IT APPEARS HE WAS WATCHING THE PROFILE DISPLAY WHICH INDICATED HE WAS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE. I THEN INFORMED ZLA THAT WE WEREN'T GOING TO MAKE MOMAR AT FL240. SHE SAID; 'ROGER COMPANY NUMBER; CLRED DIRECT BARET. IT WAS THEN THAT WE REALIZED THAT HE HAD PUT FL240 IN THE FMC AT SALTN; AS DEPICTED ON THE CHART. I THINK THERE WAS SOME ADDITIONAL CONFUSION WITH CTLR AFTER THE EVENT AS WE STAYED AT FL240 AND SHE SAID TO US; 'COMPANY NUMBER; DSND NOW TO ONE TWO THOUSAND;' INDICATING THAT WE HAD MISSED ANOTHER ALT. NEITHER OF US HEARD HER TELL US TO DSND TO ONE TWO THOUSAND; BUT OUR CREDIBILITY AT THAT POINT APPEARED SHOT. BETTER DILIGENCE ON MY PART. I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT IT WAS THE LATE FLT; FATIGUE AND ALL THE OTHER EXCUSES YOU READ; BUT IN SHORT; I WASN'T DOING MY JOB. I SHOULD HAVE VERIFIED THE ALT IN THE BOX AND HAD I NOT BEEN BS'ING; THEN I MORE THAN LIKELY WOULD HAVE BEEN MONITORING OUR PROGRESS MORE CLOSELY.
