BE35 PLT LANDS ON TXWY PARALLEL TO RWY 7L AT DAB.
Narrative
I WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 7L AT DAB. I NOTICED THE 2 RWYS; WHAT I THOUGHT WERE RWY 7L AND RWY 7R WERE REALLY RWY 7L AND TXWY 7L. I COULD NOT SEE THE '7' ON EITHER. I WAS CONCERNED I WAS NOT OVER 7L AND ASKED THE CTLR IF I WAS LINED UP WITH 7L. THE CTLR SAID I WAS OK (APPROX 150 FT ALT). I WAS STILL CONCERNED AND THOUGHT THE CTLR WOULD BE WATCHING ME. I WAS NOTIFIED AT TOUCHDOWN THAT I LANDED ON THE TXWY; AND TO CONTACT GND THEN TO RAMP AND TO CONTACT THE TWR BY PHONE. THE NUMBER '7L' IS FADED ON A LIGHT BACKGND MAKING IT HARD TO SEE. THE TXWY HAD JUST BEEN BLACKTOPPED (I THINK WITH NO TAXI MARKINGS YET). I WAS TOLD AT THE FBO; THE EQUIP HAD JUST LEFT. OTHER ARPTS SUCH AS PIE HAVE RWY 17L AND 17R AND USE RWY 17R FOR TAXI AND TKOF MAKING IT REASONABLE THAT THIS TXWY IS RWY 7L. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A LARGE DISTANCE FROM THE APCH END OF RWY 7L AND RWY 7R MAYBE OVER 1 MI AND THAT THE TWR IS LOCATED BTWN THEM. I LEARNED THAT THIS MISTAKE IS MADE A FEW TIMES EACH YR. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT APCH OR TWR ASK INBOUND ACFT IF THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE #7 HAVE A BLACK BACKGND MAKING IT MORE VISIBLE ON FINAL APCH BECAUSE IT WAS NOT VISIBLE AT THAT TIME OF DAY. AND SINCE THIS PROB HAS BEEN REPETITIVE; I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE WORDS 'TXWY' BE PAINTED ON THE END.
