A TRACK DEV OCCURS WHEN THE FLT CREW OF FMS EQUIPPED ACFT FAIL TO PROGRAM REVISED SID RECEIVED VIA PDC.
Narrative
AFTER FPR WAS LOADED INTO THE FMS; OUR FLT RECEIVED A PDC THAT LISTED OUR ORIGINAL FLT PLAN RTE AND UNDERNEATH THE ORIGINAL RTE; AN ATC CLRNC LINE HAD A REVISED DEP SID. NO HIGHLIGHTED NOTES; NOR WAS A REVISED CLRNC NOTED ON THE PDC. OTHER TIMES THAT HAVE HAD A REVISED RTE WE WERE NOT ABLE TO OBTAIN A PDC; RATHER WE HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT CLRNC DELIVERY FOR THE REVISED CLRNC. AFTER TKOF ON DEP VECTOR; ATC ASKED US TO FLY DIRECT TO REVISED RTE POINT; WHICH WE DID AFTER CONFIRMATION OF NEW CLRNC. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR ADVISED THE ACFT WAS A B767; THE PDC WAS RECEIVED VIA ACARS AND PRINTED OUT ON THE COCKPIT THERMAL PRINTER. RPTR EMPHASIZED THAT THE PDC PRINTOUT INCLUDED THE FPR INCLUDING THE RAMBLN DEP BUT IN A SEPARATE PART OF THE PRINTOUT THE REVISED SEGMENT WHICH CHANGED THE RAMBLN TO THE COKEM RNAV SID WAS SHOWN. RPTR WAS CURIOUS WHY A CLRNC GENERATED BY ATC WOULD INCLUDE ANY INFO OTHER THAN THE CLRED RTE. HE FELT THAT; AS IN THIS INSTANCE; THE ADD ON REVISION COULD BE OVERLOOKED AND A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TRACK DEV OCCUR IN CROWDED TERMINAL AIRSPACE. RPTR ASKED; RHETORICALLY; WHY THE PDC CLRNC NEEDS TO INCLUDE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE CONTENT THAT WOULD BE GIVEN LIVE BY AN ATCT CLRNC DELIVERY PERSON. CLRNC DELIVERED IN THAT FASHION CONTAIN ONLY LANGUAGE PERTINENT TO THE ACTUAL OP EXPECTED OF THE FLT.
